Here’s When 2025 Chevy Trax Ordering Will Begin

The all-new 2024 Chevy Trax got its big debut in October of the 2022 calendar year, with General Motors pulling the sheets on the Bow Tie brand’s latest entry-level ICE crossover. The 2025 Chevy Trax follows up on the initial 2024 model year with only a few small updates and changes. Now, GM Authority has learned when 2025 Chevy Trax ordering will begin.

The front end of the Chevy Trax crossover.

According to sources familiar with the matter, ordering for the 2025 Chevy Trax will kick off in January, 2024. That means dealers will be able to begin submitting 2025 Chevy Trax orders starting early next year.

As GM Authority covered previously, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2025 Chevy Trax will begin on March 4th, 2024. Production will once again take place at the GM Changwon plant, located in South Korea. The Chevy Trax was previously produced at the GM Bupyeong plant, also located in South Korea, prior to the launch of the all-new 2024 model year. Production of the all-new Trax officially got under way in February of 2023.

Compared to the preceding generation, the latest Chevy Trax is lower, longer, and wider, with the new exterior presenting the Bow Tie brand’s latest ICE-based styling language, including cues plucked from the Chevy Blazer crossover. Thanks to the larger exterior dimensions, the new Trax also provides customers with more interior room, including a 12-percent increase to cargo capacity and an extra three inches of rear legroom.

As for the infotainment specs, the Trax is equipped as standard with an eight-inch infotainment screen, while an 11-inch screen is available higher in the range. Further tech features include Active Noise Cancelation and cruise control, plus available Adaptive Cruise Control for most trims. The trim level lineup includes LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ, each of which offers its own unique styling features, such as wheels and grille treatments.

As for the mechanical bits, the 2025 Chevy Trax cradles the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. The GM VSS-F vehicle set provides the underpinnings.

  1. So what are the changes for ’25?
I have zero doubts that they are accelerating the ’25s in order to raise the price. Unless there are significant changes, which I won’t be holding my breath over.

    1. I agree there will most likely be a price increase for the 2025 models. We’ve been waiting on a 2024 Blue Glow LS since July. It went into production the first week of August, but still no word on if we’ll get it this year.
I also agree that it would be nice to have more information than “The 2025 Chevy Trax follows up on the initial 2024 model year with only a few small updates and changes.”
      What updates and changes???

      1. Go to Gmfamilyfirst.com under tools/ build and price/ see inventory, you can find many blue LS Trax within a 25-50 mile radius of your zip code. Half in stock and half in transit, (which takes 2 to 3 weeks arrival time.). If you special ordered, think of a slow boat from Korea after being built.

    2. I ordered a 2024 TRAX LT Blue Glow Metallic (GGK) 6 weeks ago. Order declined because this color is now an early buildout. So I decided to order this week a 1RS Nitro Yellow (color not offered for the LT). But my chance are very low that my order will be accepted because 2024 orders are almost ended.
If it is declined i will certainly order a 2025 but i think it will be more expensive and a obviously a longer delay before delivery.
I hope that they wil offer the 1.3 instead of the 1.2 for the 2025 and offer a 1500 pounds towing package.
Finally IMHO to close the debate about AWD, they should offer the Trailblazer only with AWD and the TRAX only with FWD,

    3. they put in a SLIGHTLY more powerful engine for the 2025 model year to help fuel effeciency, its also e85 compatible

  2. Part of rebuilding GM is offering cars like Trax that look great, are affordable and deliver an acceptable profit margin for the company. Even Envista, which should be an AWD Chevy Cruze replacement, is a solid offering.
GM has enough platforms and powertrains to keep building ice until 2040. They don’t need to spend on ICE r&d and, if Barra allows, can regain market share

    1. It’s a great vehicle for the price but it’s not a moneymaker for the dealer.

  3. I’m afraid belt in oil timing system will result in another vega situation. Why couldn’t they channel some of the heritage of the blue flame 6, or small block?

    1. The engine has been out since the end of 2018…..seems to be doing fine. Cars in Europe have been doing it for quite some time with good longevity. Frequent and regular oil changes are the key…..which means know how lax we are in America with car maintenance, you may be right but it’ll be due to owner negligence because some seem to think putting gas in the tank is all that is required.

  5. Nice looking but not sure about the tiny turbo.

    1. It’s really not an issue. I love mine. Unless you street race daily, the power is perfectly fine.

  6. Are there plans for AWD?

    Reply
    1. No but for AWD you can consider the Trailblazer, which for 2024 also gets interior and exterior upgrades.

    2. No. There are a few other FWD-only “CUV/SUV/Lifted hatch” cars that this competes with. GM will be happy to put you in a Trailblazer or Equinox if you feel you need AWD. (hint, a lot of people don’t, otherwise EVERY car would be AWD).

  7. I am so disappointed in my 2016 chevy track, i loved the car but started having trouble with it before it hit 100,000 miles first the catalytic converter had to be replaced about 6 mts later the valve cover had to be replaced, 1 year later the airconditioer stopped working, got it fixed now I hear a fan making a funny noise. Even my mechanic at a chevy dealership said it is a piece of s$$$ to get rid of it, of cpurse they only wamted to give me $4,000 trade in. I will never buy another chevy, my husband recently passed away we are senior citizens on social security so now I can’t even afford a car payment,

    1. These problems are no unique to Chevy, i had a company 2017 Subaru Forester for 14 months,
tons of electrical issues , and could not keep any of the lights working for more than a month at a time,
After 1 year old the compressor went on the AC and it was hardly used , 4 months later and still no parts to fix
It had 120km and in August ( 14 months old ), the converter plugged and had to be replaced
So Fleet said to to take it back to the dealer and leave it there.
In early sept 2018 i picked up a new 19, Equinox premier.
Its still going strong today with almost 240 km, with just routine maintenance.

    2. in all honesty, the generation 2 ecotec engine gm was using in the old trax was a complete piece of junk, when gm had developed it they were in bankruptcy and doing all they could to squeeze every last dime out of their cars so they wouldnt go under, as of right now the gen 3 ecotec engines like the new trax has have proven to be very reliable, and my 2018 chevrolet cruze which runs a gen 3 ecotec has 206k miles on the clock and its never had any reliability issue of any sort

  8. So just roll over year ? Should keep the price down then . Wish they put AWD system in it . It’s nice A-B crossover that Americans can afford

  9. When it gets more power I am all in,3 cylinder 137 horsepower I don’t think so.

    1. It works just fine for my commute to work, however I don’t “race” anyone. It has no problem on on-ramps, cut & dice city traffic or passing on a two-lane. Don’t knock it until you try it.

  10. This is their entry level vehicle. The cheapest vehicle they sell in the US. If you look around this really is a very affordable product, and really good deal overall compared to everything else on the market.
So naturally, half the people on here are complaining that it isn’t AWD and has a small engine.
Buy something else. There are so many SUVs available today, even just from Chevrolet alone, so why can’t you just let this one be what it is?

  11. Folks ignore the fact that Chevy has something called the Trailblazer with an optional larger engine and optional AWD. At a much higher price, but if that’s what they want…

    1. Sadly the trailblazer looks like crap and the trax actually has style . The trax also has little bit more more cargo space . Too bad they won’t discontinue the blazer ice and just upgrade the trax .

      1. i looked at the trailblazer and the 2024 trax and, the trunk on paper sounds bigger on paper for the trailblazer but dont believe it, the trailblazer had one of the worst trunks ive ever seen in a new car and the trax had an AMAZING trunk for the size of car it was

  12. I hope GM doesn’t start making the new Trax longer, bigger, and wider (plus more $$$) for ’25. Why, if you develop a simple machine like the Trax would you want to foul it up with bigger this and bigger that? Ford began on the right track with the Maverick, but now they’re ruining it with eliminating the hybrid powerplant and adding too many models and unnecessary options into its mix, ruining what they originally had to begin with: a simple truck. I hope Chevy doesn’t follow suit and ruin the Trax, which is doing quite well in sales for GM. Peace…🙏♐

  13. Hi, We just purchased a 2024 Chevy Trax 2RS and I have to say that my wife and I love it. It is a great little crossover for the price. It has plenty of room, easy car to handle, nice ride and great gas mileage. The question i have is do you know if dealers are charging a $3,000 markup over MSRP for this car or are they even allowed to do so? We were charged $3,000.00 over MSRP and are trying to find out if is the norm for the Trax. We purchased the car from Empire Chevrolet of Hicksville in Hicksville New York. Thanks
