Here Are The 2024 GMC Canyon Towing Capacities

Just one model year removed from the introduction of an all-new generation of Big Red’s midsize pickup truck, the 2024 GMC Canyon features a handful of updates as compared to the 2023 Canyon. Today, we’re taking a closer look at 2024 GMC Canyon towing capacities.

For starters, here’s a brief review the powertrain options. In conjunction with the introduction of a new generation, the GMC Canyon boasts the TurboMax turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine as standard fare across the entire trim lineup. It’s rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.

The GMC Canyon towing capacities on the AT4X AEV Edition are slightly comprised.

Output is directed to the ground via the second-gen GM eight-speed automatic transmission. All trim levels, regardless of drivetrain configuration, utilize a 3.42 axle ratio, while 2WD is standard on Elevation, and 4WD is standard fare across every other trim, but available on Elevation.

With that covered, here are 2024 GMC Canyon towing capacities:

Looking over the numbers, most Canyon models enjoy a maximum towing rating of 7,700 pounds, while the off-road-focused AT4X and AT4X AEV Edition are rated at 6,000 pounds. Notably, the ratings are unchanged compared the 2023 GMC Canyon’s towing capacities.

As a reminder, the 2024 Canyon is built at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri. Riding on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform, the third-gen Canyon shares the same platform as the third-gen Chevy Colorado.

  1. Well, I’ll give credit where credit is due, the 3.6L V-6 was rated @ 7000 Lbs towing, where as the 2.7L I4 is rated @ 7700 Lbs, but I’m not sure if its the engine or the updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform it rides on?
