GM’s The Durant Guild Debuts At Guangzhou Auto Show In China

General Motors announced that The Durant Guild – its new Premium Import business in China – today made its first appearance at the 2023 Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition, or Auto Guangzhou, one of the country’s most important auto shows.

The automaker debuted The Durant Guild platform at 2023 Auto Guangzhou with a special booth paying tribute to GM’s birthplace, Factory One in Detroit. Additionally, the company’s new business arm announced plans to officially introduce two iconic American full-size SUVs, the Chevy Tahoe Z71 and the GMC Yukon Denali, to the Chinese market next year.

“Auto Guangzhou is a perfect opportunity to showcase The Durant Guild’s curated product lineup to consumers and gain insights into their preferences,” said President of The Durant Guild, Leon Li. “The official introduction of the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon marks the next chapter of our premium import business development. We will accelerate the construction of our direct-to-customer sales network, introduce more iconic products, and offer more high-quality choices to help consumers embrace diverse lifestyles,” he added.

In total, The Durant Guild presented five iconic American-made models at 2023 Auto Guangzhou that have been selected for the Chinese market: the Cadillac Celestiq, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, the GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate, the Corvette Stingray 70th Anniversary Special Edition and the Chevy Tahoe Z71. All of these vehicles have been previously presented at the China International Import Expo, except for the Celestiq in production format.

As such, the all-new production Cadillac Celestiq makes its official debut in China as the ultimate pinnacle of luxury, technology and sophistication developed by the company that seeks to once again elevate Cadillac‘s image as the world’s standard. The handcrafted model was presented on the Auto Guangzhou stage in a striking Nimbus White color that inherits the customized elements of the Concept and redefines ultra-luxury through a futuristic spirit.

In addition to introducing new products at the auto show, The Durant Guild platform announced that it will open showrooms and direct-to-customer delivery centers in major tier-one and tier-two cities in China during calendar year 2024, as it intensifies customer outreach and engagement. It will also integrate physical showrooms with its online community, providing a comprehensive and unique brand experience.

  4. WTF…it’s all about China for Mary and her cronies. Seems to have forgotten about the US market all together. I have my last 4 GM cars (2020 CT6 Premium Luxury AWD, AWS & Super Cruise; 2017 CT6 Premium AWD, AWS & Super Cruise, 2002 Caddy DHS with just over 100K on it and a 2001 Corvette convertible under 50K on it) and I’ll be looking at a BMW, Mercedes or maybe a Genesis. No SUV/CUV, pickups trucks or EV’s will ever be in my future.

Take a hike GM and move your POS EV’s and the CUV/SUV and pickups to China.

  5. There was a day when GM new product announcement was at the GM BLDG . On west Grand Blvd in Detroit. The Bldg. Widows were blocked out and the new product was moved into the the Bldg the night before the official announcement. The morning of announcement the windows were clear and light refreshments were made available. GM employees and the general public were in attendance. It was more than a launch , It was an annul event that residents and employees looked forward to. Now GM launches their new product in foreign countries. We also had marketing back then. If you can think back to the 1954 Chevrolet now visualize the 1955,56,57,58,59,60,61,62,63 etc. That was marketing ! I have watched current Cadillac advertising . In my opinion it was more about female fashion than the product. SAD ! I’m not going to single out any one person ,for it’s the GM leadership….period . I think GM has confused education with intelligence. I am a current owner of a new SUV, 2016 CT6, and a 2023 Corvette. I will no longer wait for a new CT6. The time has come to move on .
