Ryan Gosling will star in a new film adaptation of the ‘80s TV series The Fall Guy, and several GM pickups are coming along for the ride, including the GMC Sierra and GMC Hummer EV. The new The Fall Guy movie trailer recently hit the net showing Gosling and his vehicular costars performing a series of exciting stunts, previewing some of the GM vehicles in story. Check it out below.
For those readers who may be unaware, The Fall Guy was an action / adventure TV series that ran between 1981 and 1986. The show revolved around a group of Hollywood stunt performers who employed their stunt skills in the off-hours as bounty hunters. As it turns out, the stunts frequently involved a GMC pickup truck.
Now, The Fall Guy is making a comeback as a major motion picture. Gosling plays Colt Seavers, a veteran stuntman who finds himself working on the set as the stunt double for an A-list movie star, with the movie directed by Seavers’ ex-girlfriend, Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt). When the star of the movie goes missing, Seavers is called on to investigate and track down the missing actor. Can the unknown stuntman save the day and win back his girlfriend?
Just like in the original TV series, The Fall Guy movie will feature several GM vehicles, including the GMC Sierra, seen in the trailer around the two-minute, 57-second mark. The GMC Sierra in question appears in a custom two-tone treatment matching golden brown upper body panels with black lower body panels, similar to the classic GMC pickup that starred in the original The Fall Guy television series. In addition, the GMC Hummer EV is featured in the trailer and on the movie poster, serving as the camera rig.

The Fall Guy is set for release in the U.S. on March 1st, 2024.

There are some things that should not be remade and this is one. Rockford, Smokey and the Bandit and even Magnum should be left alone and not made to fit this era.
The writing and plots they use today just destroy what made these shows good back in the day but made to fit the mindless market of today it fails.
Have you watched the originals recently? They aren’t as good as we remember them, especially Hawaii Five-0, Magnum P.I. or even our beloved CHIPS. You can stream them on one outlet or another. Sure, they are nostalgic and all, bit the new MacGyver, Magnum P.I., Hawaii Five-O and even dare I say Quantum Leap are all a bit better in both production and acting capabilities.
Sure, I am a die hard 70’s-early 90’s television and movie watcher. And yes, there are some that don’t need to be remade, but I think this is a good thing. Maybe not the best pick for the main actor, but still made in good fun and entertainment in mind. At least it wasn’t switched to some “super girl” that could somehow beat up ten grown men in one, two minute scene.
There are lots of shows from the past I used to love, that when I try to stream them now for the nostalgia, I just can’t. I have to turn them off. The original CHIPS, MacGyver, Mangnum, Dukes of Hazzard, today they are all dumb as hell. Quantum Leap, still love the original. Can’t watch the new one. Breaking the canon of how the leap works, the show is ruined.
I think there is a bit in the trailer where you see the original truck too, if GM was smart…..and we know they aren’t….they would offer a that 2 tone package as a special edition through dealers.
Funny you said that. There was at least one dealership that offered a throwback paint scheme a few months ago.
You would think that GMC would offer a special edition Fall Guy paint job on its pickups. Wake up GMC we want a FALL GUY truck.
Ryan Gosling must like GM vehicles! First Barbie, now this…
@MrR
I was talking with a colleague yesterday about this very thing!
Why not offer a trim with a retro theme? Something that would completely change the look of today’s trucks with an old school look we love but can’t get anymore. A lot can be done with tape, paint and grille inserts or the shape of tail lights. Sheet metal would not have to be touched! De-content the truck back to say ’90’s era standard if you want it to be value leader and then ala carte options to drive the price up for profit!
It would not be for everybody, but that’s why there are trim levels already. I think a new Silverado with a different grille and headlight stack to mimic a mid ’80’s or even a ’70’s truck would look neat! Or those tail lights with the bright trim from back then and a two tone option.
I only like the retro Sierra, that is why I clicked on this article.
Colt Seavers would never drive a crew cab, the movie will suck just for that reason.
Ryan Gosling is NOT Colt Seavers.
That is the bottom line.
Colt Seavers and Ryan Gosling? Wrong man for the part in my opinion.
Saw the movie. I liked it as the nostalgia parts were fun. Ryan knocks over a bad guy at one point and the 6 million dollar man sound was used. Awesome. Miami Vice Theme was used. Awesome. Fun movie with great stunts. If you have realistic expectations it a fun watch.
