GM Releases Update For Incorrect 2024 Chevy Silverado HD Trailering Labels

GM has released a Customer Satisfaction Program for certain units of the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD which shipped with the incorrect trailering label affixed to them, with erroneous values printed on the label rather than the correct ones.

The trailering label on the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD contains a range of values, including gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), gross combined weight rating (GCWR), curb weight, and maximum payload.

Incorrect values on the trailering label could lead to problems for 2024 Chevy Silverado HD owners, such as hooking up a trailer which is over or under the actual trailering capacity of the pickup truck based on the information supplied. This could use to underutilization of the truck’s towing capacity or overloading of the vehicle.

Dealerships which have identified a 2024 Chevy Silverado HD which is potentially affected by this problem can verify the individual vehicle’s involvement. Affected trucks will be marked with “Open” on their Investigate Vehicle History screen, found in the GM Global Warranty Management system.

In the event an affected Chevy Silverado HD unit is located, dealers are instructed to order a new label to apply to the vehicle. During ordering, the dealership is instructed to enter the pickup’s VIN number, which will be printed out on the label.

The fix – applying the new, correct replacement trailering label – is available free of charge to the vehicle owner through November 30th, 2025. In order to apply the new label, service personnel are instructed to remove the old label first. The replacement label should not be applied on top of the existing label.

  1. Isn’t it a requirement to wear a man bun in order to pay attention to those labels? I mean really. Hook it up and drag it down the road. The truck will handle it.

    1. See what your insurance company says about towing above specifications. You may or may not have any if you’re involved in an accident. They don’t cover stupidity.

  2. We used to joke back in the day that you loaded until the bumper dragged then threw some off and go. Haha those were the days.

    1. Kind of like loading the honey wagon (manure spreader), we loaded as much as possible on it because we knew we could rest until that load was spread before we had to load it again. Note for you city folks, that’s where the term sh*t load comes from.

  3. I remember riding with my dad to the gravel pit in our 61 Ford pickup and driving home very slowly because it was squatted so bad and the front end was really light. Of course it was manual everything, but Dad was in the 3rd Armored Division and drove a truck during the Korean War so he knew what he was doing.
