Chevy Silverado To Finally Arrive In Argentina In 2024

After several failed attempts by General Motors to introduce Chevrolet‘s flagship pickup truck in the South American country – where it indefinitely postponed the model’s launch, the Chevy Silverado would finally arrive in Argentina during the 2024 calendar year.

The local Ámbito Financiero newspaper had an exclusive interview with the new Vice President of GM Argentina, and has just reported that the plan to introduce the Chevy Silverado 1500 in the Argentine market is still in force. In fact, on the same day the article about GM’s top executive in the country was published, the publication stated that the Silverado would finally arrive in Argentina at some point next year.

“By 2024, at General Motors we are committed to continuing to offer commercial innovations to the market and our priority will be the improvement in production processes, to continue exporting quality vehicles and continue being protagonists of the country’s industrial and technological growth,” said Vice President of GM Argentina, José Cammilleri. “We will continue to offer a very complete range of vehicles and excellent after-sales services for our customers,” he added.

As such, the fourth-generation Chevy Silverado would be among GM Argentina’s new products in 2024, expanding the brand’s pickup portfolio in the most competitive truck market in South America. With the Silverado, Chevrolet would finally reach the country’s full-size pickup segment and complete its local truck range, currently made up of the new compact-sized Chevy Montana and the midsize Chevy S10.

Unlike the company’s previous plan for the model, the future introduction of the Chevy Silverado in Argentina will apparently follow the same strategy used in the successful launch of the pickup in Brazil. This involves a top-of-the-line Silverado configuration equipped with the 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine that develops 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, mated to GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission.

The expected arrival of the Chevy Silverado in Argentina has not yet been officially communicated, but could take place during the calendar year 2024, when economic adjustments in the country and changes in import mechanisms are expected to alleviate the difficulties that affect GM’s local business in the country. According to the Argentine media, the Silverado being considered for the local market is the High Country Crew Cab Short Bed configuration.
