Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)

Cadillac Escalade sales during the third quarter of 2023 kept the full-size luxury SUV in full command of its segment once again when ranked by sales volume, as it has for over a dozen years. On a combined basis, the Escalade family – comprised of the regular-length Escalade and extended-length Escalade ESV – saw sales grow eight percent to 10,700 units, accounting for nearly half all sales in this space.

The Lincoln Navigator (see running Lincoln Navigator sales) duo – those of the regular-length Navigator and extended-length Navigator L – placed second with a 46 percent bump to 4,527 units, but still less than half the deliveries of the Escalade family. The Infiniti QX80 took third place with a 73 percent jump to 3,095 units. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer family – comprised of the regular-length Grand Wagoneer and extended-length Grand Wagoneer L – followed in fourth with a 22 percent uptick to 2,867 units. Finally, the Lexus LX remained last in spite of a 100 percent leap to 1,828 units.

Below, we’ve included sales figures of full-size luxury crossovers for the sake of reference. Though they differ mechanically from the aforementioned body-on-frame SUVs by utilizing a unibody construction, they are typically cross-shopped and considered as alternatives to the regular-length full-size luxury SUVs. Currently, the only full-size luxury crossovers are the BMW X7, the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, and Land Rover Range Rover. Audi is rumored to be working on a future Q9 that would slot into this space. Notably, the Escalade alone outsells each of them individually, and the Escalade duo makes up around 69 percent, or over two-thirds, of combined sales of these models.

The GM Authority Take

Although Cadillac Escalade sales during the third quarter of 2023 grew slower than the segment average, the Escalade family maintained its dominance to still command nearly half of all sales in the lucrative full-size luxury SUV space.

Escalade sales may fall short even more in the final quarter of the year since the UAW expanded its strike to the GM Arlington plant in Texas at the end of October; the facility assembles both Escalade models. Beyond that, we expect Escalade sales to recover to their regular levels, while potentially earning an even stronger position.

About Cadillac Escalade

The 2023 Cadillac Escalade represents the third model year of the fifth-generation luxury SUV, debuting a variety of important changes and updates. The biggest is the introduction of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V, a new high-performance variant that boasts the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, rated at 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque. Output is routed through the same updated GM 10-speed automatic transmission and fed to a four-wheel drive system, yielding a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. Upgraded brakes and Magnetic Ride Control suspension with special tuning help to keep it all under control.

The 2023 Escalade also adds a new Surround Vision Recorder system, standard on all trim levels, plus expanded driving coverage for GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assistance feature, and return of the Brembo Performance Brake Package.

The 2024 Cadillac Escalade arrives with standard Super Cruise on all trims except for the base Luxury, and the 2024 Escalade-V will get 20th Anniversary features to celebrate two decades of the Cadillac V-Series sub-brand. Additionally, the 2024 Escalade drops the Mahogany Metallic paint color, but adds Black Diamond Tricoat on the Escalade-V.

Prototype of the upcoming refreshed 2025 Cadillac Escalade ESV in Sport trim with 24-inch wheels

The upcoming 2025 Cadillac Escalade will bring about a thorough refresh, which has been delayed from the 2024 model year. Expected updates will include exterior styling revisions on the outside along with a 24-inch wheel option. A full-width, pillar-to-pillar infotainment display panel similar to that of the Cadillac Celestiq ultra-luxury sedan will also be present and accounted for. In fact, a prototype recently hinted that the Escalade will feature a copy-paste display setup from the Cadillac Escalade IQ, highlighted below. In addition, expect the 2025 Escalade to also get 5G network connectivity and a new roof-mounted comms antenna to boot.

Here’s everything we know and expect regarding the 2025 Cadillac Escalade and everything we know about the 2025 Cadillac Escalade-V.

First-ever all-electric 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ

On the EV front, in August GM debuted the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ, the first-ever all-electric full-size SUV from the luxury marque. Highlights of the Escalade IQ include streamlined styling, a tech-heavy feature list, 55-inch infotainment screen, and a top range of 450 miles with 750 horsepower on tap. Production is slated to kick off next year. It’s worth noting that the 2025 Escalade IQ will be quite a bit larger than the Escalade with the internal combustion engine.

In late summer, our spies captured the first real-world photos of the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ.

  1. I am waiting patiently for the higher torque diesel in the GMC Yukon XL The Escalade ESV. Do you know yet when that specific power plant with nearly 500 foot pounds torque will be available?
