Combining the two GM crossovers in the segment, the Buick Enclave and Cadillac XT6, pushes The General to the top with a cumulative 14,650 deliveries for a 26 percent segment share.

The premium three-row crossover segment grew 23 percent to 55,506 units in Q3 2023, meaning Enclave sales outperformed the segment average.

The GM Authority Take

Buick Enclave sales continued a healthy trend that started at the beginning of the year, accounting for nearly a fifth of all deliveries in this segment during the quarter. Additionally, combining sales of the Enclave with those of Cadillac XT6 put GM at the top to command over a fourth of all units moved.

Improved inventory at the dealer level has certainly helped, with Buick Enclave inventory running at a 141 days’ supply in September 2023. For reference, a 60 days supply is considered optimal across the automotive industry. However, Enclave inventory levels will likely suffer, since at the end of September the UAW expanded its now-concluded strike to the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Lansing, Michigan, impacting production through all of October and into November.

In fact, even before the strike, overall Buick inventory was at 100 days’ supply in June, but was down to 82 days in September, which was still the highest figure of all of GM’s brands.

We should note that sales performance of the Enclave is even more impressive since it’s one of the oldest entries in the segment. Fortunately a next-generation model is on the way. Going forward, we expect Enclave sales to dip during the fourth quarter before seeing an uptick in the first few months of 2024, just before the all-new model goes into production.

About Buick Enclave

The 2023 Buick Enclave arrived with minimal changes over the refreshed 2022 Buick Enclave.

In January, Consumer Reports gave the 2023 Buick Enclave a “recommended” rating. Last May, according to a new report from Cox Automotive and Kelley Blue Book, the Buick Enclave was the most considered luxury vehicle in Q1 2023.

Additionally, in June Consumer Reports determined that Buick vehicles are among the least costly to maintain over 10 years.

The 2024 Buick Enclave serves as the sixth model year of the second-generation crossover, with no changes and updates compared to the preceding 2023 model year, though starting prices actually dropped for 2024, depending on the trim level.

Next-gen 2025 Buick Enclave prototype

A next-generation Buick Enclave will arrive in 2024 as a 2025 model (see more about the 2025 Buick Enclave), shown in these first spy shots. Here’s what we know and expect regarding the 2025 Buick Enclave. The next-gen model includes an all-new interior with a dash featuring a widescreen infotainment layout somewhat similar to that of the Cadillac Lyriq, but will most likely draw similarities to the first-ever Buick Envista, the refreshed 2024 Buick Encore GX, and the upcoming refresh of the 2024 Buick Envision.

Production of the 2024 Enclave kicked off in June and was scheduled to end on December 13th, though the date will likely be pushed back to make up for lost production due to the aforementioned strike.

  3. Mike G the wife and I back in 2021 where looking for a used car initially we looked at a used 2017 Chevy traverse LTZ but it was sold already… So the Buick/GMC dealer showed us a gentley used 2019 Buick Enclave Essence model essence is one rung up above the base model, we wound up paying around $26,000 for it and it only had 32,000 miles on it we still own it and my wife and love it it has really opened my eyes as to how good a vehicle GM can make and build when they want to… In fact it’s one of the reasons why I traded my 2010 Chevy Equinox LTZ in for my 2020 Equinox 2.0T another great car but that’s a story for another time. Again great job Buick and GM

  4. Buick probably has more potential as a premium brand than Cadillac because of design and traffic generated via GMC. Enclave is nice and Envision is beautiful.
Both Acura and Buick have found a premium pricing sweet spot selling quality at a reasonable price.
