All-New 2024 Chevy Sail Sedan Officially Debuts In Chile

Several weeks after GM Authority exclusively reported that the next-generation Sail was ready for launch in Chile, the all-new 2024 Chevy Sail sedan has just officially debuted in the South American country.

General Motors officially presented the all-new 2024 Chevy Sail sedan in Chile, confirming the return of the best-selling nameplate on the Chilean market in recent years – after the previous model was discontinued months ago. Notably, the next-gen 2024 Sail is the same as the all-new Chevy Aveo sold in Mexico, an entry-level vehicle developed and manufactured by the automaker’s SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture in China.

“We are very excited and confident in the positive reception that the New Chevrolet Sail will have, since we have worked hard to enhance a model that has marked the industry and our customers in the country,” said Marketing Manager of GM Chile, Sebastián Caballero. “It has been more than 10 years since this model arrived, which has managed to position itself throughout this time as the favorite in the segment, so its trajectory and evolution makes it one of the favorites of families in the country,” he added.

As we discussed in our previous report, the all-new 2024 Chevy Sail debuts in Chile with the four-door sedan body to continue the successful legacy of the two previous generations of the nameplate in the country – where it was first introduced in 2011. It is 7.5 inches longer (176.8), 1.6 inches narrower (66.7) and 0.5 inches lower (58.7) than the previous model, with a wheelbase of 100.4 inches (+2 inches).

In addition to debuting a body with a completely new design and a massive 475-liter (16.8 cubic feet) trunk, the 2024 Chevy Sail sedan stands out for extensive list of standard safety features and notable connectivity improvements, making it the most modern entry-level vehicle in Chile. The powertrain consists of a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine with 98 horsepower and 105 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission.

The all-new 2024 Chevy Sail sedan is now available for to order in Chile with two equipment levels and a total of three variants called LT Manual, LTZ Manual and LTZ CVT. Although an official on-sale date has not yet been communicated, the 2024 Sail sedan is expected to be officially launched and arrive in dealerships before the end of this year. For its part, the five-door hatchback version will be introduced in the first quarter of 2024.

  1. Lord, that thing looks 20-25 years old already

  2. Current GM managment needs to examine affordability crisis and react by Federalizing certain China-only cars from day 1 in design in so they can be exported during an economic downturn.
This sedan could do well here and Chevy needs one product cheaper than Trax but better than Versa. A sub brand, like Geo, of affordable, fuel efficient vehicles could fo well. Even they current Buick Excelle Verano might work as a rebadge. GM can build cheaply with GEM which should be easy to Federalize. China only Encore is beautiful

    1. I like the idea of bringing a sub-class market to slide in at the bottom… Like GEO did in the 80s/90s
