Following the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana RS’s launch in Colombia, General Motors has just introduced the compact pickup’s sporty new variant in Ecuador.
The automaker’s subsidiary in Ecuador officially launched the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana RS to expand the model’s lineup in the South American country, where Chevrolet leads the automotive market and where the third-generation Montana arrived this year to inaugurate the compact pickup segment. Now, the Montana RS brings a sporty new styling package to win over more customers.
“We saw an opportunity and developed a new segment in Ecuador with the new Chevrolet Montana, a model that broke the traditional patterns in the pickup category,” said Chevrolet Brand Manager in Ecuador, Lorena Arellano. “In a world overpopulated with SUVs, we created a different proposal, which combines the versatility of a pickup with the comfort and ease of handling of an SUV. The new Montana RS is our sporty version in a unique concept,” she added.
In particular, the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana RS represents the pickup’s second trim level in Ecuador and – unlike other markets in the region – the sporty RS was introduced as the nameplate’s range-topping variant in said country. As such, the Montana RS strengthens the lineup and is positioned above the Montana Premier initially launched with a manual transmission – a first for that trim level.
In addition to the exclusive design elements and general darkened finish typical of the brand’s RS variants, the main novelty of the all-new 2024 Chevy Montana RS for the Ecuadorian market is the six-speed automatic transmission that makes it the most comfortable option for customers looking for ease of use. It maintains the 1.2L turbocharged engine with 132 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque.
The all-new 2024 Chevy Montana RS is now available for sale in the official Chevrolet dealer network in Ecuador, further strengthening the brand’s extensive local pickup portfolio that, in addition to the entry-level Montana, includes the best-selling Chevy D-Max, the Chevy Colorado and the flagship Chevy Silverado. The Montana RS in the Ecuadorian market is priced at $29,999 USD, the official currency of the South American country.

Mark Reuss should have gone with his gut 5 years ago and made sure this truck came to US and Canada.
IDC what ppl say, I would take one in a single or ext cab with a longer bed. For hauling things. Homeowners need to do that from time to time. Oh, and a manual would be nice.
These aren’t really workhorse trucks. The Maverick may have a max payload of 1500lbs, but it’s still just a unibody crossover. For hauling from time to time is why U-Haul has trailers and they are cheap
The people who buy these don’t need 1500 pounds of payload. They are trade workers and carry tools to work on site like carpenters who have materials delivered. They are part runner shuffling parts around town, they are pool guys who just need a couple hundred pounds of chemicals or small landscape companies and pest control. Anything that makes short trips often times a day something like this would benefit. If the Maverick had a longer bed it would be better suited for those in those trades. Pool guys who get 15mpg in a Colorado or fullsize truck relish the idea of 35+ mpg in a hybrid. I know a few that want a maverick it is just too small hold anything worthwhile.
In the USA, the Montana would basically be a car for people that need to put dirty stuff in their trunk. Not arguing against that, just don’t consider it the S-10.
The small job Silverado guys would be better served by a smaller truck with a big bed. But they made the Colorado purely as a lifestyle vehicle. They’re unwilling to cannibalize Silverado.
What is it going to take to get GM to open there eyes up and bring the Montana to the US market. They could sell a million of them
Mary is not a truck expert, no matter how hard she tries to be.
in all your examples, there is no need for the 2 extra doors. A longer bed goes a long way. There is a huge group of people just begging for a 2 door pickup truck again in small, medium and large size trucks. Mary and her marketing team are clueless.
Well a trailer is a PITA. Just as with campers, I would rather have a mini motorhome v. a trailer to fool with.
True, but my utility trailer has a twelve foot bed, 2500lbs capacity, and can be left at home when I don’t need it, which is most of the time.
These really are not trucks and if you saw this one in person you would understand it is not even competitive with ones on the market in the states.
This is not an S10.
Meanwhile the Maverick and Santa Cruz can’t keep up with demand – this fake truck would sell very well as most people don’t need an overbuilt real truck with worse MPG. I’m sure GM is concerned about cannibalizing Colorado sales, but I bet the Maverick is already stealing Colorado sales. The Maverick (66,430) already outsells the Colorado (58,685) and Ranger (31,503) in 2023 YTD sales and is still ramping up – I wouldn’t be surprised if the Maverick outsells the Colorado + Ranger in 2024 and closes in on 125-150k sales, also stealing some Taco sales. Toyota has plans to enter this arena as well.

This should be sold here as a competitor against the UGLY Ford Maverick.
Don’t understand why Mary still runs GM
I find it interesting that Europe, Asia and South America get more small to mid size models. In the US we lost the small work vans and we were forced to go big or go home. Why not import them here and let the consumer have a choice. We are forced to drive big and then we have to feed the big vehicle with high gas prices.
Bring it to U.S. The 1.6 liter diesel option would be fantastic……!
I need a car, but also need a small pickup truck, like the Montana. My wife will not trade her Trailblazer (2006) for a pickup truck because it’s too big. I would buy a Montana today if it was available in the USA!! I had a Toyota Hi-Lux, and a Chevrolet LUV pickup truck and drove them until the wheels fell off at 200,00 to 240,000.
It should have an option for a 2 door. It looks better and more attractive to women. Women buy trucks..
