Ushering in the fifth generation of the Korean automaker’s midsize crossover, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe features expanded dimensions and a roomier interior than the outgoing model, making it a significant competitor to GM’s Chevy Blazer crossover.
While Hyundai unveiled the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe back in July and GM Authority reported the relevant info available at the time, the carmaker has now provided many additional details about the North American variant of the nameplate.
The dimensions of the Santa Fe and the Blazer, both exterior and interior, are fairly similar, though with a few notable differences. The variant of the Santa Fe to be released in North America is 190.2 inches long, 74.8 inches wide, and rides on a 110.8-inch wheelbase, while Blazer dimensions are 191.9 inches in length and 76.7 inches in width with a 113-inch wheelbase.
Inside the cockpit, the Santa Fe has 1.3 inches more front-row headroom and 0.4 inches additional legroom compared to the Blazer. The comparison is not exact since the Hyundai offers a third seating row with 30 inches of legroom, while the Chevy crossover has two rows of seating.
Cargo capacity is 40.5 cubic feet for the Santa Fe, 4.1 cubic feet greater than the fourth generation, while the Blazer carries 30.5 cubic feet of cargo behind the second row and 64.2 cubic feet behind the first. Hyundai highlights the model’s wider liftgate opening, describing it as offering a “terrace-like function to effortlessly enjoy the outdoor environment surrounding the vehicle.”
Powertrains for the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe include a turbocharged 2.5L Theta III gasoline engine developing 277 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, and a turbocharged 1.6L Gamma III hybrid engine that cranks out 232 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque in conjunction with an electric motor.
The 2024 Chevy Blazer also has two engine options, specifically the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine providing output of 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque and the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine rated at 308 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque.
While the GMC Acadia might seem more of direct competitor to the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe than the Chevy Blazer, there’s a reason why we’re not calling the Hyundai crossover an Acadia rival. The current-generation GMC Acadia is an approximate match-up for the Santa Fe in size and its three-row seating, but that generation is also outgoing.
The new third generation of Big Red’s crossover arrives with the 2024 GMC Acadia, which is bigger than the second-gen model and is therefore now more of a Hyundai Palisade rival. The Blazer represents GM’s only remaining “smaller” mass-market brand midsize crossover.
The Santa Fe includes an off-road-focused XRT trim designed for rugged all-terrain competence, including 1.5 inches of additional ground clearance and a towing package, along with appropriate styling. All trims of the vehicle also include Smart Cruise Control and a lineup of modern safety and driver assistance technology. The North American version will offer 11 available exterior paint colors.
Hyundai VP SangYup Lee says the design is versatile enough for “everything from busy family itineraries to camping adventures.”

How is this a Blazer competitor?
Let’s watch and wait for the Blazer’s sales to tank. As soon as this is available to buy, you will see 10 for every 1 Blazer. GM has to get off the electric bandwagon and get some vehicles that are competitive and cost less. Like Hyundai does.
If someone gave me Hyundai / Kia junk with their junk ICE, I’d sell it and buy a Chevy…
You might want to rethink that. I have 5 cars, Escalade (new), 2020 Silverado 2500 HD, 1994 Z28, a 87 S10 and a 23 Santa Fe Caligraphy that we traded my wifes 05 Sonata with 300,000 miles. Other than a slightly rough ride in the calligraphy compared to the GM cars the “Value for Buck” is definitely the Santa FE. So quality really isn’t a issue. BUT, the new version of the Santa FE is just butt ugly.
Why doesn’t gm come out with a “real” Blazer as in a Bronco/Wrangler competitor.
That is ugly. The outgoing model much nicer alot nicer . I thought they were discontinuing the Santa Fe? Sorry Hyundai you and Honda need to fire your car designers
I just checked the Santa Fe out at the LA Auto Show. Cool looking with some nice features, but the third row is a joke – – room only for small children, who would need to be in booster seats that wouldn’t even fit. I don’t know why they even bothered.
Who did the review of the engineers’/design crew’s work on this thing? It’s too boxy and looks like a variant of the Cube.
Yugly.
I don’t like the new styling of the Santa Fe but, absolutely love our 2023 Santa Fe Caligraphy! tomg
Ditto , same here. It appears that they ruined it for 24
And I can’t wait to get rid of my 2021 Calligraphy for the new 2024 calligraphy.
I feel sorry for all those folks that just bought a ’23 and Hyundai has some pretty sweet deals on those right now. This is not in the same class as the Blazer as it’s moved up into the 3-row class, regardless of how big that 3rd row is. Whatever it competes against, it will slaughter that class for the first year until foks get used to seeing them.
Everything was going ok on this – a bit boring – until you get to that rear end
WTF?
Not to mention it’s got some version of Hyundai’s junk ICE
100k and it seizes up.
Junk
Santa Fe was always a nice looking. My dad bought two of them over the years and I always liked them. But this is ugly, trying to look like a LandRover?
Trying to look like a Ford Flex
It is a Hyundai which is all that I need to know. Besides. it is ugly as sin. The Blazer is a beautiful design and equipped with the 6-cylinder engine it will run circles around the Santa Fe. I would take a Blazer any day. In my opinion Chevy does a poor job of marketing the Blazer. I have seen very few of them where I live. That’s a shame because Chevy has the design right on this SUV. Then again, they will probably try & shove the EV Blazer down our throats instead of the ICE version.
I completely disagree. The new blazer is a slightly different equinox with a Camaro interior. Another blah crossover. A real blazer needs to be based on the Colorado. A 4runner competitor. Do that and it will sell itself but nooooooo, lets make 3 of the same freaking thing. UGhhhh i hate modern gm corporate. For everything they get right, they make 2 bad decisions
Why in the world does this look exactly like the Ford Flex???
Nothing do with blazer not really even the ev blazer reminds me lot of the ford flex
Hyundai Flex🤣
You mean Hyundai is going to start building cars that don’t randomly start on fire and are not easily stolen? I would never buy another Hyundai.
This is a step backwards looking like a cross between a Ford Flex and Land Rover. About the only positive thing I can say is the interior is a notable improvement. The rest is a mess
The 2023 Santa fe calligraphy was a beautiful suv…why did they make it SOOOO ugly for 2024???
