If you have been living under a rock for the past few months, you might want to sit down before reading the following unpleasant news: the 2024 Chevy Camaro – which represents the ninth model year of the current, sixth-generation Camaro – will be its last, as GM once again discontinues the muscle car, at least for the time being. This presents an opportunity to outline everything that’s new and different for the 2024 Camaro before its impending discontinuation, which we will do here.
Model Line
From a model line standpoint, the 2024 Chevy Camaro sees the deletion of the LS Coupe trim level. This makes 1LT the base trim for the Coupe body style, with the trim level lineup breaking out as follows:
- 1LT
- 2LT
- 3LT
- LT1
- 1SS
- 2SS
- ZL1
Body styles remain the same as for the 2016 thru the 2023 model years, to include a two-door coupe and two-door soft-top convertible.
Exterior
On the outside, the 2024 Chevy Camaro loses two exterior colors – Shadow Gray Metallic (GJI) and Rapid Blue Metallic (GMO).

Shadow Gray Metallic (GJI)

Rapid Blue Metallic (GMO)
These are replaced by two new exterior hues – Nitro Yellow Metallic (GCP) and Riptide Blue Metallic (GJV).

Nitro Yellow Metallic (GCP)

Riptide Blue Metallic (GJV)
The last change is the deletion of the 20-inch Caliente wheels (57V). When available, these wheels were only available on the 1SS and 2SS trims.
Interior
Inside, the 2024 Chevy Camaro sees only one change – the deletion of the Black Interior Appearance Package. When offered, this package was offered as a dealer-installed accessory (LPO) on LS (Coupe), 1LT, 2LT, LT1 and 1SS trim levels, and included a black interior trim kit, door accent trim, and black sueded knee pads.
Mechanical
Things get a big more newsworthy on the mechanical side, where the 2024 Chevy Camaro sees the deletion of the turbo 2.0L LTG engine and the eight-speed automatic transmission it was mated to. For the 2023 model year, this combination served as the standard powertrain for the LS (Coupe), along with the 1LT, 2LT and 3LT trims. That means that the atmospheric 3.6L V6 LGX engine and ten-speed automatic transmission become standard on the 1LT, 2LT and 3LT trims.
Rounding out the mechanical changes are the deletions of two accessory-level upgrade packages – the lowering suspension upgrade system (SG3) and the sway bar suspension upgrade system (SC1).

The biggest news for the 2024 model year can be found with packages, where the 2024 Chevy Camaro adds two special editions to commemorate the sunsetting of the sixth-gen model. The first special edition is the Camaro Collector Edition, which actually breaks out into four separate packages per the Camaro’s four individual trim levels. The final two changes involve two of the muscle car’s various design packages. First, Design Package 2 (PDN) is available with Rally Stripes for the 2024 model year. By comparison, the 2023 model year was only available with Center Stripes. Second, Design Package 3 (PDP) and the aforementioned Design Package 2 no longer include Carbon Flash Metallic second-generation Ground Effects (VTD), which were included for the 2023 Camaro.
Looking Ahead
All of the changes outlined above are par for the course for a model that’s in its last model year of production. Looking ahead, the 2024 Chevy Camaro is set to be discontinued before the end of the 2023 calendar year. As exclusively reported by GM Authority, production of the 2024 Camaro Convertible is set to end on November 22nd, while the Coupe will run out on December 7th, making for an extremely short production window.
But don’t take that to mean that the Camaro is gone forever; GM has confirmed that the Camaro story is not over. And though far from an official confirmation, we’ve heard whispers that GM will resurrect the Camaro nameplate on a family of battery electric performance models on its BEV Prime platform. Stay glued to GM Authority for more info on that.
The updates and changes described here are specific to the U.S. market and may be different for other markets.
Comments
Please, no EV Camaro. Please.
Why do so many hate ev’s? Don’t like em don’t buy em. Our first EV was a mustang MACH E GT we bought this summer for our daily errands, most fun car we’ve ever had to drive. Cost 3-4 cent’s a mile to drive when charged at home, more power and zips around faster than any ICE vehicle. They deff have their place and use. But we also have a 21 escalade for road trips and a 23 Serria ultimate for my work truck. I would never get rid of them either.
It’s not a mustang good sir….
What’s a Serria?
Because single gear pagan cars are boring to drive with their fake digital sound to incite some driver engagement. I agree pagan cars do have their place if one. The vast majority of people need real range and not comically low range from some giant battery pack vehicle that can only be achieved if one drives like a virgin. Besides there is not enough earth for this giant battery pack on wheels pipe dream for all.
It’s obvious you don’t live in my neck of the woods where the summers are too short, and the winters are too long. EVs disappear from the roads once the temperature drops below freezing. EV owners then start driving the ICE vehicles.
It looks like the right time to put my
2023 2SS Convertable up for sale before I put too many miles on her. She has 2600 miles right now. I am not going to make a profit so she should be easy to sell.
Got screwed out of 2024 Camaro SS with a strike and GM short sight management decision to cancel production in November. Place an order in August and just received notice no more builds. I would be interested in a slight used 2023 Camaro SS 6 speed. Ed
Sure, stick a Camaro badge on a turd,or a Mustang badge, and poof now they’re cool and selling like hotcakes….
Incoming ev crossover suv lol
So every Camaro built in 2024 will have a Camaro Collector Edition exterior badge? Doesn’t seem that exclusive…like collecting tooth paste….
What badge? I don’t have one.
No Dan, only Camaros equipped with one of the Collector Edition package will be Collector Editions.
This article is dated November 12th. Why in God’s name do you have this here in the first place when we can’t even order the car in the first place. All orders have been shut down as far as I have read from this website. Gee whiz.
Especially when they reference the end of production article they wrote “ As exclusively reported by GM Authority, production of the 2024 Camaro Convertible is set to end on November 22nd, while the Coupe will run out on December 7th” and there is no new information in this article.
Production won’t end until the end of November for the vert and the end of December for the coupe. The car is still in production… not everyone is here to buy one, some of us just want to know what changed.
…The Camaros will go up in value when they make them no more.
Ordered a Camaro Aug 21, … GM did not build my Camaro. Why would this article be written now? Maybe GM stock Price isn’t low enough
I think it’s total BS that you had to get an allocation to order a new Camaro and that most dealerships added a market adjustment cost to it, when I wanted to order a new ZL1 that’s what I was told. I cancelled the order I was going to place. EV’s suck and do does GM. I have owned 3 new Camaro’s including the 35th Anniversary SS that still own and was going to trade for the new ZL1.
GM sucks…, so does not knowing what you are talking about. Yes an order could be placed without allocation, doesn’t mean it will get accepted for production. Especially when pretty much everyone wanted the limited production models.
L-gm has made it hard to get SS models and ZL1 models. This is unlike what Ford and Dodge have done this generation in which dealerships stocked the desirable models well. This generation of Camaro barely had any of the desirable models available in my area and I lived in a big city. When I wanted to order a ZL1, it was around the time the alpha chassis plant had a lot of delays so I went with something else. I wonder how many customers were lost because they were not able to get the camaro they wanted.
Extremely poor sendoff to an iconic musclecar, that was intentionally neglected without even advertising. Then they cry because they’re not selling. Bunch of boneheads!
I ordered a yellow convertible after Labor Day and so far, i didn’t get it I drove GM CARS all my life and this is how they
thank me
At the end of the day the Camaro is simply a BADASS….end of story
2024 new option: cant order the car
I have 2018 hot wheels ss dealer wants to give me peanuts still have towels on seats 23000 miles now
This is what the send off should have had for 2024
MORE HP/TQ
New rear end gear ratio for the automatics
A performance package…CAI, Exhaust, Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo brakes, slotted/drilled discs….. for $5K
Why doesn’t the current administration want us to drive? What makes you think the end goal is to eliminate cars? Seems a bit doom-and-gloomy….
Put everybody afoot, less mischief that way….Rooster Cogburn.
Please do a little research. They do not want us to own a vehicle. That is what fifteen minute cities are all about. France just killed off flights under 500 miles and the EU wants to limit LIFETIME plane travel.
Thank you, this would have never happened if trump was president.
GM does not value the name. They have the Corvette to which all resources are given. They basically let the Camaro die twice. I owned a second generation Camaro in the early 2000s and it was my everyday driver. Those Camaros outsold Mustangs. They should have hired a really top-notch design team for the latest iterations and that did not happen. They won’t resurrect the name again with some half ass family of EVs as GM will be bankrupt within the next few years.
I miss my 70 AMX.
EVs are a bad idea and a way for the go green gov to get Americans off the road and inrich themselves and China. Because they know China contols the market on EV production. HOW? China has a huge market share of the mining industry that produces the materials needed to make the batteries. Which by the way are limited. Soo we would be at the mercy of China and kissing their arse as to retain the freedom to travel. It would be dictated by what type of relationship we have with China. And we know how environmentally and humanitarian China is.
Per GM playbook, discontinue a product once they get it right. It’s obvious Mary Buick Envision Made in China-Barra is no fan of the Camaro. I wish GM’s stock price would drop to less than $20/share in order to get Mary Buick Envision Made in China-Barra fired.
Would be nice if they fulfill my order since Feb -march. If I don’t get it I am done with GM.
And now they’re coming out with an SUV Corvette??!! What a way to ruin another nameplate.
