Hennessey Runs Stock 2023 Corvette Z06 On The Dyno: Video

Officially hitting the limelight in October of 2021, the C8 Corvette Z06 brings a fresh, high-revving upgrade for the mid-engine Vette, mounting the naturally aspirated, 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine just behind the cabin. With a flat-plane crankshaft and 8,600-rpm redline, the LT6 can make some very sweet music, indeed. Now, the folks at Hennessey Performance Engineering have their hands on the new Corvette Z06, and they’re strapping it to the dyno to see what it’ll do.

Hennessey Performance Engineering tests the new C8 Corvette Z06.

For those readers who may be unaware, Hennessey Performance Engineering doesn’t mess around when it comes to making fast GM cars even faster. The tuner already offers a supercharger package for the C8 Corvette Stingray that ups output from the 6.2L V8 LT2 to 708 horsepower and 638 pound-feet of torque, making for quite the upgrade over the standard output ratings of 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque.

Now, it looks like Hennessey is aiming to turn up the wick on the C8 Corvette Z06. In stock guise, the Z06’s naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 produces 670 horsepower at 8,400 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 6,300 rpm, blessing the mid-engine sports car with a 2.6-second 0-to-60 mph time, and a quarter mile time in the mid-10-second range at more than 130 mph.

That’s definitely quick, but watching Hennessey lay down a baseline for the 2023 Corvette Z06 on the dyno leads us to ask – what’s next?

The video is just under two minutes long, and shows the new Z06 from multiple angles as it spins the rollers. We get a shot of the sports car from the rear, under the rear hatch, in the cabin, and up front. The dyno (measuring power at the wheels) reads 600.36 horsepower at 8,340 rpm and 406.55 pound-feet of torque at 6,740 rpm. So what will a dollop of forced induction add to the mix? We can’t wait to find out:
