Grounded G2 Electric Camper Van Is Based On BrightDrop Zevo

RV enthusiasts have a new all-electric option thanks to Grounded, which recently unveiled its new G2 electric camper. Based on the BrightDrop Zevo 600 delivery van, the new Grounded G2 offers a wealth of customizable configurations, plus more than 250 miles of range on a full charge. Reservations are open now.

Grounded announced the first G2 produced on social media, showing off a large kitchen module, seating for four, a flip-up table, a closet, and a queen-sized bed. The all-electric RV also incorporates a dry flush toilet, an outdoor shower, a kitchen sink, an induction stove, and extra storage in overhead cabinets and under the seats.

The Grounded G2’s modular interior is available with a range of different options, providing a fully bespoke layout to suit the individual needs of the customer. Further upgrades are available via a refitting service to swap out components. “This can be anything from extra beds for a growing family, to different storage options as you pick up new hobbies, or even a redesigned dining area as you become the social hosts of your campsite,” Grounded writes.

Each Grounded G2 is also equipped with integrated electronics and proprietary software to provide customers with more control over various components, view usage patterns, and diagnose potential issues. In addition, the software can optimize the customer experience by learning how the systems are used over time, and extend the life of the vehicle through over-the-air updates.

Under the skin, the Grounded G2 continues to use the GM Ultium battery pack equipped as standard by the BrightDrop Zevo 600 delivery van. This pack provides more than 250 miles of range on a full charge, with an array of solar panels on the roof providing upwards of 640 watts of power. A house battery module is also offered in customizable power sizes to meet the needs of each unique configuration.

Grounded is taking reservations for the G2 now, which are available via the Grounded website for a refundable $100 deposit. Customers will be able to specify the layout of their G2 at a later date. Purchase price is set at $195,000.

  1. Assuming it comes with everything shown, that is not out of line with a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Adventure Wagon camper van, which ranges in price from roughly $150,000 to $250,000 and up to start. The 640 watt solar panel system won’t do much for charging the battery, but staying in campgrounds with complimentary electricity would enable van life people to travel the US with only the cost of lodging. I’m sure there will be a YouTube channel to follow.

    1. Pretty ugly inside. The walls and ceiling look like countertops.

      1. Looks like the Grounded interior designer shops at IKEA? $195k you would have expected it to have more of a premium interior.

  2. Very nice but a tad to expensive, don’t think my bank manager would give me a mortgage on one.

BrightDrop only delivered about 12 a month in Q3, got another big order from Ryder for 4,000 vans earlier on in the year, what year will your Camper van eventually arrive off the production line?

GMC Hummer EV has 90,000 orders, only knocked out about just over 400 a month in Q3.

Chevy Silverado EV has 170,000 reservations, only delivered6a month in Q3.

If GM don’t deliver these EV’s, a lot of customers will cancel orders on long wait lists. I am aware not all people a lot of the Silverado EV reservations won’t all end up final orders & it early days still trying to ramp up production, strikes will affect deliveries but if they can’t start ramping up production, sadly they will end up losing a lot of these valuable customers.

    1. GM can’t afford to build that many if they are truly losing thousands of dollars per vehicle! This modern day Edsel will bankrupt them!

      1. This narrative needs to stop. The cost to build ab Ultium vehicle is less than what they are sold for.

Now if you want to include factory cost, battery plants, etc, sure they are not profitable. But if you use that as a basis the Corvette C8 isn’t profitable either. The cost for factories and battery plants are amortized over years if not decades. It doesn’t have to be attributed to a single vehicle sold.

        1. Ford stated that they are losing $36k per EV. GM stated that their quarterly profit was reduced by $1.5 billion due to losses on EV’s. Their words not mine. This explains why they are both gearing down their EV production, high cost, losses, and slowing demand. They should have listened to their customers instead of the government.

  3. Looking forward to there being a campervan EV option with closer to 400 miles range.

  4. I might buy a bare body to put on a diesel truck chassis and then install a real, warm, comfy interior instead of the cold sterile one shown. That would be a great conversion RV!

  5. At least you will have a place to sleep while you wait for it to charge.

  6. Assuming that one could be driving a considerable distance for recreation, I can’t help but wonder what the 75 mph highway range looks like. That interior isn’t going to sell mama on one of these deals.

  7. How many campgrounds have a charger plug in in them ????
Drive too far and never be able to get out!!!!
Some day these might be feasible …. Just like the electric cars — Some day in the future..
I believe the “Transition” car would be a Plug In Hybrid – about 150 to 200 electric miles and then the engine kicks in to charge the batteries… Until you can plug it in again..
This would allow people to actually take trips and go on vacations, etc !!!!!!!
