SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) has just revealed the first official images of the refreshed Wuling MINI EV Macaron, introducing a refreshed design for its Chinese-market debut.
The automaker officially unveiled the refreshed Wuling MINI EV Macaron as the first styling evolution of the successful customized variant of China’s best-selling all-electric vehicle. As such, the MINI EV Macaron debuts with an updated design and a more comprehensive feature package to keep the nameplate up to date – which has revolutionized the market for small zero-emission vehicles in the Asian country.
Developed from a strategic collaboration between SGMW with well-known fashion and accessories brand Smiley World, the refreshed Wuling MINI EV Macaron features a comprehensive styling update with changes to almost every body panel – now with more fluid shapes and multiple oval-shaped elements. In addition, the new customized variant of the MINI EV adopts the Global Silver logo of the most modern Wuling models.
The refreshed Wuling MINI EV Macaron stands out for introducing a new design concept called “Smiley” that gives it much more personality. The changes include a smiley faced front composed of a redesigned upper module that houses new oval LED headlights representing eyes, and a lower molding with the same shape that simulates a mouth, both painted in contrasting white that matches the roof and the wheels.
Likewise, the rear of the updated Wuling MINI EV Macaron incorporates a redesigned white horizontal module with new oval-shaped lights that replicate those on the front. With these changes, Wuling’s electric minicar seeks to reinforce its appeal among younger customers and differentiate itself more clearly from the many similar offers that have emerged in the competition since the launch of the MINI EV Macaron in April 2021.
The new refreshed Wuling MINI EV Macaron is expected to be officially launched in the coming weeks and simultaneously go on sale in China, the only country where the joint venture manufactures and markets the successful all-electric minicar under the Wuling brand. The vehicle will be available with five different body colors and will maintain its single electric motor developing 20 kW (27 horsepower) and 85 Nm (62.7 pound-feet) of torque.

GM owns 44% of this joint venture.
Calling it “GM’s” all the time is a little disingenuous.
Three companies own the venture. GM has more than a third ownership. Sounds GM to me.
GM owns 44% of SAIC-GM-Wuling.
SAIC own 50.1% of SAIC-GM-Wuling.
So, GM doesn’t control this venture.
Little RWD Wuling Mini make about $9 profit on every one they sell, thats a bit more than the $9,000 losses on Chevy Bolt EV & £32,000 big loss Jim Farley said they are losing on every EV they sell at the moment, l love the honesty transparency you get from Ford Model E Division on EV’s sadly it’s on course to make $4.5 billions loss in 2023.
Wuling Mini EV is a cute little car & profitable as well, sadly l think a typical American family of four will find it a tad to uncomfortable on a long 1,000 trip Disney park or Wally’s world vacation, queuing up for an hour waiting to charge with 100 mile range won’t be fun. Prefer the stretched VW ID Buzz if only l justify the stupid shy high price VW are asking.
Wuling Mini EV Macaron it’s not being aimed at the French car market? I am a bit more liking McLaren F1 sort of a guy, than Mini Macaron sort of a car guy, sorry. Glad to hear GM Wuling are making a profit, albeit a small one.
You wouldn’t take your family of four on a long drive in a cargo van or a Corvette either, and yet those vehicles are also being made.
Obviously, this isn’t intended for such a thing.
No l would not take a family of 4 on a long drive in a Corvette to Wally world, l would take the girl friend some where else somewhere a bit more upmarket, 1,000 road trip in Corvette absolutely awesome that would be a real blast.
Lots of hippies convert cargo vans to campers travel the world spend years travelling in the them, cargo vans are more popular than original ICE VW Camper vans.
You’re absolutely right Wuling Mini EV excels at absolutely nothing absolutely no attributes at all you can warm to. Probably suit some tight fisted skinflint that can’t afford a decent car, a total death trap, designed to carry one large American who is tired of living.
Would rather pay a bit extra for better proper electric car with a lot more crash protection value my families life a bit more than putting them in a clean n’ nasty Wuling death trap coffin on 4 wheels.
Pleased you have got my point Wuling Mini is absolutely useless good at nothing, you need a break after 5 mile of torture in one, rather catch a bus, train or even cycle its cheaper and healthier.
Now that is an ugly vehicle, I don’t care who you are!
I’ll have a Traverse on ICE please.
What a TURD.!! Looks like a Death Trap, My golf cart is that big.
Should be popular with the kids. Yellow one sorta looks like a minion….
i love the simple styling & would love one for local driving. im a minimalistic guy.
