An AT4X Spec Front and Rear DSSV Shock System is now available as an accessory for GMC Sierra 1500 trucks from the 2019 model year or later, tuned by GM to enhance performance in rugged, demanding off-road situations.
GMC Sierra 1500 units equipped with the new AT4X DSSV Shock System accessory will also benefit from better on-road handling, GM says, extending its usefulness to daily driving as well as rock crawling.
As for fitment, the GMC Sierra AT4 trim can be equipped with the AT4X Spec Front and Rear DSSV Shock System. If used in conjunction with the Performance 2-inch Suspension Lift Kit, the shock upgrade can also be installed on Crew Cab Short Bed or Double Cab Standard Bed variants of the GMC Sierra.
The AT4X DSSV Shock System is currently priced at $4,495. Purchasers can opt to pick up the accessory for no additional delivery charge at a nearby GM dealership. Alternatively, GMC Sierra owners can opt to have the Shock System installed on their truck for an additional $475 (approximate) by the dealer, which The General suggests is the best installation choice.
GMC Sierra trucks upgraded with the AT4X DSSV Shock System gain rugged AT4X performance in a variety of demanding off-road environments. GM specifically mentions rock crawling, maneuvering along narrow trails, and desert running at high speeds as activities where performance benefits will be most noticeable.
The AT4X Multimatic Shock System relies on spool valve technology to improve GMC Sierra handling both on and off road. The kit adds three separate spool valves that provide the handling and ride enhancement, with three connected chambers for fluid flow. The shocks include 18-millimeter front and 16-millimeter rear rods to support higher side load, while suspension travel gains two inches in front and one inch at the rear.
Complete front shock module assemblies, rear shocks, steel leaf springs, and installation hardware comprise the AT4X DSSV Shock System. Warranty period for the parts is the longer of the GMC Sierra bumper-to-bumper warranty or 12 months and 12,000 miles.
As a reminder, only a few changes and updates are featured in the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500, the sixth model year of the nameplate’s fifth generation. Engine choices include the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline TurboMax engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.
Under the skin, structure is provided to the GMC Sierra 1500 by the GM T1 platform. Production of the 2024 model year is currently under way at both the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.

Hey GMC, my 2014 Sierra needs an upgrade. DSSV Shock System fit my K2XX?
Nice! What’s the part number? It doesn’t show up on the accessories page for me.
I fell in love with the AT4x but I’ve come to really appreciate the standard bed – the fact that the AT4x was only offered in the short bed configuration was a deal breaker. This is exciting news as I have a 2019 Double Cab with the Standard Bed. I will be checking in with my dealer to learn more.
Does anyone know when you could buy it for the 2500HD trucks?
