Here is a quote from above: “Our strong results this year, whether you’re measuring sales leadership, market share growth, conquest sales or pricing, show the power of having well-designed and engineered new trucks and SUVs for everyone – from entry-level buyers to the most discerning luxury customers,” said GM Executive Vice President and President GM North America, Rory Harvey.”
So often myself and others point out the lack of promotion/advertising of any cars (sedans) from GM. I often bring up how difficult it is and has been to even find them on lots. The mentality of GM is that they just really don’t exist and if they just ignore them (lack of updates, fresh designs, don’t even talk about them, etc) that the sedan will just go away. The thing in that quote from the quote within the article is how Rory Harvey totally left out the words cars or sedans! And yet, the Malibu is way up. The CT5 is up. The CT4 is slightly down for the quarter but up for the year. The Camaro is up for the year. The Corvette is up for them all. The Bolt included the EV and EUV, where the EV is more of a car (hatch) and they are up. Yet, there’s quite a few of the SUV/CUV’s that are down. And yet this schmuck can’t even give a proper shout out to cars.
It’s THAT mentality that is killing the cars as they PUSH the boxes on all of us because that’s what they want us to buy.
Detroit 3 all copied FCA giving up on sedans in the US and focusing on other segments. Unfortunately, many Malibu models go to fleet/retal & a new design is desperately needed. GM could just do a reskin, spend very little, because it’s a solidly built car. A new or updated platform isn’t needed.
I’d say that’s the mentality of jumping off a bridge because the guy in front of you did. You are just pointing out a fact, so I’m not referring to you. I bring this up over and over about how many cars/sedans/coupes are still sold in this country alone. It’s not a small number and that’s not even taking into account the lost sales and lost referrals that are now going to other brands that still offer numerous sedans. IMO, it’s very short-sighted of the GM and Ford people.
I certainly agree that the Malibu is a solid car and needs at least a re-fresh for now.
But sales were DOWN compared to Q2 2023.
Everyone is trying to get their new GM before the strike completely stops new construction. I will wait for the recession and better rebates
Great timing Mary.
Right hand says. We’re doing great, sales and profits are up.
Left hand says. We have no money to assign fair compensation to those workers that make GMs money.
I’m still waiting for Mary to explain how she ‘earns’ 29 million.
Sales and profits are all up, huh?
And there’s your reason why the price gouging… I mean “inflation” is going on.
Companies know very well there is money out there and money is to be made. Companies will jack up the price because consumers will still pay it.
Lyriq priced at 60K can sell lot more units than eHummer priced at 110K.
Lets hope Lyriq sales double and triple soon.
