GM Releases Software Update For 2024 Chevy Trax Infotainment System

GM now offers a software update for the 2024 Chevy Trax’s infotainment system to correct problems with the radio module of the all-new entry-level crossover.

What the exact 2024 Chevy Trax radio module software issues consist of is not described by the service bulletin, nor does the offered information describe what will happen if the radio module does not get the software update.

GM instructs its dealers to check their inventory for potentially affected 2024 Chevy Trax units and install the software update if necessary. Customer-owned Chevy Trax units from the 2024 model year brought to the dealership for service or other reasons should be examined to see if the software update is required.

The Investigate Vehicle History screen of the GM Global Warranty Management system indicates potentially involved 2024 Chevy Trax units by showing them as marked “Open.” Dealers should check to see if a specific unit is involved before beginning either inspection or the subsequent fix.

The software update to the 2024 Chevy Trax infotainment system remains available for vehicles through the end of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. After that the update expires and is no longer available, the service bulletin notes.

As a reminder, the 2024 Chevy Trax has been a highly successfully model both in Korea and the U.S. Since its North American launch, 50 percent of Trax buyers have consisted of new GM customers, making the crossover a highly effective ambassador for GM and Chevrolet products.

The fully overhauled 2024 Trax features longer, lower and wider external dimensions, dual-tier headlights, and a thoroughly reworked interior. Motivation is supplied by a single powerplant option, the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine developing 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Output reaches the front wheels through the GM six-speed automatic transmission.

  1. The only “problem” I’ve heard of is that several reviewers have complained that, on vehicles with the larger system, you can only choose one item of additional info to appear in the driver cluster at a time, like temp or tire pressure. Maybe this fixes that, but it’s not a glitch. It was initially designed that way.

  5. I have actually had weird stuff happen with my radio. Hopefully this fixes it. It will randomly just lock up sometimes. One specific time it started working again but the volume knob and home button didn’t work for the better part of a day, then randomly started working.

  7. Save you money and dont get this car. I wish i didnt. Its a bass sound that keeps going off as you drive and GM cant seem to fix it bec they dont know what’s causing it. But im not giving up i will call everyday if i have to. Cuz they gonna fix this. I didnt even have the car for 30 days. Its so annoying. If i would’ve known this was happening i would’ve gotten the car. When i test drive it. It didnt make the noise. Im so disappointed !

  8. I’d buy a Trax but for one reason, no factory nav/system. I know you can pair a smart phone to use google maps for instance but then you eat up your phone data plan. I was hoping to see that on the “hi-line” model at least that the update would include that feature. The Hyundai Venue Limited for instance has factory nav/system as standard equipment, this is making me look hard at the Venue, the money is about the same.

  9. I have a 2024 Chevy Trax, and I am disappointed. I can not use the Bluetooth calling because it is malfunctioning. I took it to two different dealerships before the radio module was identified as the issue. The climate control knob randomly stopped working then randomly started again. I think there are to many issues for such a new vehicle. I think it will be a great smaller suv for my family I just hope these issues get fixed soon.

  11. ACCORDING TO MY WIFE, her RS2 infotainment system is getting too hot to touch. The car starts off cool, and the screen gets super hot after 40 minutes of driving (not always). She says she has to turn off the screen. I’m trying to catch this in the act. Hopefully, this update will fix this issue, and it’s not only the iPhone 15s that have thermal problems.

  12. Also having problems with a bass sound coming out of the door speaker. When I open the door it goes off and the dealer said there’s nothing they can do about it.

  13. My 2024 Trax has just hit 1000 miles on it. I have had some issues with electrical problems.

My backup camera will sometimes go to a fish eye view where I see both sides of my car and a close up view of my license plate.

My volume control continues to go up to full blast and will not go down until I turn off the car and open the driver door.

My entertainment system, including maps has frozen se eral times, again the only wY to stop it is to turn the car off and open the door.

Entering the car in mid conversation on my phone and having it connect automatically, twice it scrambled the sound so bad I had to hang up and call back.

I love my new Trax but these small issues need to be addressed by Chevrolet and gm as soon as possible.

  14. John they are addressing them it’s something with the new software and screens they came out with recently. Like I said before if you these companies would take their time to develop and test these systems in the real world then maybe these problems could be avoided… instead of rushing everything to market to satisfy the share holders!

  15. Took my 2024 Trax in for the software recall and the dealership wiped out all the software and now the car doesn’t even start. I’m now on day 2 of waiting for the software to load. 3,000 miles with no problems until the dealership got a hold of the car. And to add insult to injury the gave me a loaner Silverado full size pickup truck, guess they never had to transport a 91 year old mother in a wheelchair!!!!
