Chevrolet Chile Sales Down 43 Percent In September 2023

Chevrolet Chile sales decreased 43 percent to 1,681 units in September 2023. The figures place Chevrolet as the country’s third best-selling automobile brand during the month, behind Toyota and Hyundai.

Chilean auto sales figures are limited since reporting only shows the best-selling models in each segment. As such, no sales data is available for vehicles that sell in lower volumes. Nevertheless, individual Chevy model sales performance (for models for which sales data is available) was as follows:

In addition to the models specified, Chevrolet also markets the following vehicles in Chile:

During the first nine months of the 2023 calendar year, Chevrolet Chile sales decreased 46 percent to 16,070 units.

The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Chile sales fell faster in September, deepening their contraction over prior months. The 1,681 deliveries registered in September represent a new low point for the Bow Tie brand’s performance in the local market as sales dipped below the 2,000 units mark, after experiencing an improvement in August when sales surpassed that threshold. As such, the results in September represent Chevrolet’s 12th consecutive decline in the Chilean market.

All Chevrolet models suffered double-digit decreases compared to the same month last year, including massive losses between 100 and 680 units for the Chevy Sail, Chevy Colorado, Chevy Tracker and Chevy Onix. It’s also worth highlighting the performance of the best-selling Chevy Groove, which could not maintain its growth rate, losing 97 units on a year over year basis.

Meanwhile, the all-new Chevy Montana and Chevy Silverado maintained stable sales levels that represent slight improvements compared to the previous month. Chevrolet’s recently-overhauled compact unibody pickup is gradually earning new customers and finding its way within this segment.
