The GM Authority Take

The decrease in Chevrolet Brazil sales during September follows in the footsteps of the setback experienecd in August, becoming the second consecutive decline for the brand in the South American country, where it has been recording a streak lasting seven consecutive months in the green. In fact, September’s negative performance caused Chevrolet to fall from second to third place again among the best-selling brands in the Brazilian automobile market, being surpassed by Volkswagen’s 29,651.

Most models offered by Chevrolet Brazil were in the red in September. That was the case for the Chevy Onix and Tracker – the brand’s two best-selling models, which saw single-digit declines that shed a combined 1,628 units on a year-over-year basis. Despite this, the Onix retains its position as the most popular vehicle in the Brazilian market, while the Tracker continues to be the best-selling crossover for the second consecutive month.

The all-new Chevy Montana continues as the brand’s fastest-growing model and one of the fastest-growing nameplates in the entire Brazilian automotive market. However, the Montana‘s monthly sales volume remains stagnant and is decreasing when compared to prior months. In addition, the Chevy Equinox was the brand’s second model that managed to finish the month in the green, with notable improvements for both the month and the year-to-date line.
