The GM Authority Take

Cadillac CT5 sales continued the positive trend we’ve seen during the 2023 calendar year. However, some rivals – namely BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, and Audi – continue to beat the CT5 on a collective basis. We posit that this is the result of factors associated with demand as a result of a stronger perceived brand / image.

Overall Cadillac new-vehicle inventory ran at 46 days supply in September, down a tad from the under 50 days supply in June. As a reminder, a 60-day supply is considered optimal in the U.S. auto industry by many automotive sales organizations such as the National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA). That means a 60-day inventory level gives dealerships enough inventory on hand to sustain sales volume for roughly the next 60 days, or nearly two months.

Going forward, we expect CT5 sales to remain at roughly the same levels as during Q3, unless GM opts to increase production output while finding ways to increase demand for the model. The upcoming CT5 refresh (see below) should help substantially in that regard.

About Cadillac CT5

The 2023 Cadillac CT5 arrives with just a handful of changes and updates over the 2022 Cadillac CT5.

While in December Consumer Reports said the 2023 Cadillac CT5 was a compact luxury car to avoid buying, just a week later Car and Driver named the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing to its 2023 10Best cars list. “The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is the greatest sports sedan on sale today,” the editors proclaimed, “if not of all time.”

The 2024 Cadillac CT5 hits dealer lots as the fifth model year for the luxury four-door, offering up a few important updates and changes compared to the preceding 2023 model year. That includes standard IntelliBeam headlamps across the entire CT5 trim lineup. Furthermore, the 2024 model year gets a new Red Accent Package on the CT5 as well as the CT5-V and the CT-V Blackwing. The 2024 Cadillac CT5 Onyx Package will include a new decklid spoiler, and the 2024 CT5-V, CT5-V Blackwing get four new paint colors, including yellow.

Refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5 Sport

Last month, GM debuted the refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5, revealing new styling and tech features along with more standard safety items. Notably, this refresh only applies to the Cadillac CT5 Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport for now. The refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5-V and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing are coming soon. Production of the 2025 Cadillac CT5 will begin next spring at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Lansing, Michigan.

  1. But but but Mary said nobody wants sedans! Wrong!

    1. I agree and I plan to seriously consider one of these for my next new car.

  3. My local dealer is stocking them with fairly high numbers. I think the refresh could really push the numbers. For me, the interior of the current gen still doesn’t feel as desirable as my gen 2 CTS, so I’ve not been swayed to get one. The new interior might. Need to see it in person though.

  4. Now promote and advertise it and see what happens. Then make the dealers actually stock some instead of the bland crossovers they line the lots with now and see what happens. Then offer it with a PHEV system for those who would like better efficiency but don’t want a full on EV, and see what happens.

Poor Volvo S60. I work at a store with Volvo and they are not giving the S60, V60, S90 or V90 any love. Volvo is just as bad as the rest and concentrating on just crossovers and SUV’s. It was 2018 when the S/V60 was last updated. That’s 6 model years since the 2024’s are now out. I think they plan to let it die just like GM has done with so many great sedans and all for the sake of chasing the SUV market to death.

    2. They did promote it with a $500/mo lease incentive hence the increase. Other players are doing the same thing.

When you’re doing small numbers even an extra 500 sales a month gets you a 47% YOY increase.
