C7 Corvette Gets Crushed By 18-Wheeler, Everyone Walks Away

In the physics equation of C7 Corvette versus 18-wheeler, you wouldn’t expect the occupants of the Corvette to fare all that well. Incredibly, everyone walked away from a recent incident in Louisiana after a massive semi-truck rolled over a C7 Corvette, crushing the sports car in the process. Despite the damage, which was captured in a series of dramatic photos, no major injuries were reported.

Semi-truck on top of a crushed C7 Corvette.

According a report from local CBS affiliate KSLA News 12, the incident occurred on I-45N the morning of Thursday, October 5th, in DeSoto Parish. Details of how the incident occurred were not provided, but according to photos from the scene, the blue C7 Corvette was somehow lodged under the 18-wheeler, with the truck resting directly on top of the sports car. The report indicates that a Chevy Tahoe belonging to the sheriff’s office also got stuck during the incident.

Photos show the C7 flattened under the heavy semi-truck, the roof caved in and the body hugging the ground. The front wheels of the truck are seen hanging over the front bumper of the C7 Corvette, suggesting that the semi-truck drove up and over the sports car from the rear before finally coming to a rest on top of it.

Additional photos show the trailer overturned on the highway, the content of the trailer spread out across the pavement and grass.

The KSLA report includes comments from a passerby, Christine N., who complimented the sheriff’s office for its handling of the incident, in particular Cpl. Jimmie Minor, who helped to clean up the scene.

All told, it’s pretty insane that no one was seriously injured in the crash. The way the Corvette is wedged underneath the semi-truck suggests that the occupants could have been crushed, but the A-pillars on the sports car (at least on the passenger side) seem to be intact. Notably, a recent incident involving a C8 Corvette and Chevy Silverado reiterates just how strong those pillars can be.

  5. The strong perimeter space frame which allowed the low seating position relative to the beltline and the cowl is likely reason they survived.

    Nice job Corvette team.
