General Motors announced that the all-new Chevy Silverado EV will debut very soon in China as one of the halo products it is studying to market in the Asian country under the umbrella of The Durant Guild – its new premium vehicle import local platform.
The automaker announced that it will introduce the all-new Chevy Silverado EV for the first time in China during the 2023 China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai to be held from November 5th to the 10th, when The Durant Guild plans to share its business plans to bring GM’s iconic American products to the Chinese market.
In fact, China is the first country outside the United States and Canada where the all-new Chevy Silverado EV will be introduced since the global debut of Chevrolet’s all-electric truck early last year at the 2022 CES. Until now, the new Silverado EV had only been announced in the two main North American markets, and GM had not revealed any plans to introduce the vehicle in any other nation.
The official announcement of the upcoming debut of the all-new Chevy Silverado EV made by The Durant Guild platform confirms an exclusive report from GM Authority in March 2022, which first previewed the company’s plans to import the full-size zero-emission pickup to China. The Silverado EV will be one of the vehicles that GM will send from the United States to the Asian country, once the imported vehicle business begins operations.
Notably, the Chevy Silverado EV is a reinterpretation of the legendary Silverado nameplate as the brand’s first pickup truck designed for an all-electric era. Based on GM’s innovative Ultium battery and Ultium Drive motor architecture, the electric truck adopts a 24-module battery pack as part of its fundamental structure to deliver an extended EV driving range and outstanding performance, with up to 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque.
The all-new Chevy Silverado EV will be presented for the first time to the Chinese press and general public next month at the 2023 China International Import Expo, the sixth edition of the event dedicated to imported vehicles from the country that will be held in the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The new truck is expected to be included in the commercialization roadmap that The Durant Guild platform will launch at CIIE.

China places a 25% tariff on imported US cars, plus it costs money to ship it, so expect $125-150k USD price tag. Obviously this will be a low volume niche product.
This non-truck will be a niche vehicle in the US too.
Do the Chinese want an Edsel truck?
Can GM full fill orders in the North America and have the capacity to ship to other countries, than great for them. GM has delayed this vehicle in North America, so really confused as to what the logic is for GM as they are over promising and under delivering at the moment, not smart for the company’s reputation. Customers like me are waiting and waiting for what, I really don’t know! GM is not customer driven like most companies and that scares me. I would have been happy to buy a Silverado EV for 40K but at 80K no interest.
