820-HP Cadillac CTS-V Lines Up With 1,040-HP Chevy Camaro In GM Drag Battle: Video

Throw a whole heaping of boost at one of GM’s 6.2L V8 engines, and odds are you’ll end up with a pretty high power number. That much is obvious from the two GM speed stars featured in the following drag racing video, which pits a supercharged Cadillac CTS-V against a supercharged Chevy Camaro SS. It’s a heads-up, straight-line battle to the finish line, but which machine will walk away the winner?

A modified Cadillac CTS-V drag racer.

Once again coming to us from the folks at Hoonigan, this drag racing video is a little under 14 minutes long, and includes info on both of the competitors, as well as several rounds of close racing action at the end.

In one lane, we have a 2017 Cadillac CTS-V. If this Caddy looks familiar, it may be because it was featured in another video last month, and now, it’s on track to show us what it can do when driven flat out. Under the hood, we find the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4, which was originally supposed to stay stock, but thankfully, the owner came to his senses and went big on the power mods. Highlights include a ported blower, a new cam, ported heads, and new breathing mods, plus some methanol injection for good measure.

Output is measured at 820 horsepower at the rear wheels, all of which hits the pavement thanks to a set of Weld wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson rubber.

Sounds mean, but this Cadillac CTS-V is going to need all the help it can get if it’s gonna beat the competition. Over in the other lane, we find a 2016 Chevy Camaro SS, which is showing up to the party with a 6.2L V8 LT1 inhaling through a burly looking centrifugal supercharger.

Complementary upgrades include main studs, Wiseco pistons (stock compression at 11.5:1), Wiseco rods, LT4 injectors, and methanol. Output is estimated to be around the four-figure range, which is reaching the pavement via custom wheels with Mickey Thompson tires.

Sounds like quite the match up. Hit play to see how it all shakes down:

  1. Thank you for the Caddy vs Camaro race!! It was AWESOME!!! I was rooting for the Caddy, but the Camaro was definitely very cool. I would like to see a longer race, head to head and see if that 2-foot length win holds against the Caddy. Thanks again!!

  2. That Camaro can mph. Those lungs were screaming on both, a good way to start the day. Good close match up.
