GM brand Chevrolet just released a new video ad for its current and upcoming vehicles entitled Together Let’s Drive, which in its original form accidentally leaked the 2025 Chevy Equinox in Cacti Green exterior paint.
Chevy quickly took down the video and edited out the 2025 Chevy Equinox, replacing it with a segment showing the popular 2024 Chevy Trax crossover, again in the Cacti Green color. However, GM Authority took screenshots of the Equinox teaser so you have the opportunity to see the vehicle.
The 2025 Chevy Equinox appeared in the original video at around the 45-second mark, As can be seen in the image above, the leaked images showed the ‘Nox in the Activ trim driving along a road. Photos and some other details of the 2025 model year Equinox were previously leaked by the Chinese government, including pictures of the new Activ trim. The RS trim was also revealed in China.
From today’s leaked photos, the U.S. version of the 2025 crossover looks quite similar to the Chinese variant, at least from the limited angles available. Matching the Chinese Activ trim, the North American version sports a black Bow Tie logo with silver edging. Other matching details include the taillight design and shark fin C-pillar.
The leaked video images also show the AWD badge alongside the liftgate Equinox logo. This potentially confirms that, like its Chinese counterpart, the U.S. version of the 2025 Chevy Equinox Activ might include the all-wheel drivetrain as standard, rather than optionally available as on some lower trim levels.
The Equinox in the video wore a coat of Cacti Green paint (color code GVR) as its finish. Chevy replaced the video segment with a short sequence of a 2024 Chevy Trax speeding along an oceanside highway with water stretching to the horizon beyond it, once again with Cacti Green as the exterior paint hue. Other vehicles showcased in the video include the Chevrolet Silverado EV, the Chevy Silverado ZR2, the 2024 Traverse, the 2024 Trailblazer, the 2024 Blazer EV, the 2023 Chevy Colorado, and the Chevy Corvette.
Following the publication of this article, a Chevy spokesperson provided a statement regarding the next-generation crossover. “We appreciate the excitement about our vehicles. Chevrolet is a global brand with a diverse global portfolio of products. There are no news to share today regarding a new Equinox for the U.S. market.”
GM Authority predicted The General would add an Activ trim level to the next generation of the Chevy Equinox back in December 2022. The 2025 Chevy Equinox debuts the nameplate’s fourth generation and is expected to bring a long list of changes and updates. The more upright stance and muscular styling is already visible in the leaked images.
The fully overhauled interior will feature a new digital gauge cluster, new steering wheel, new infotainment system with a larger infotainment screen, new safety tech, and the GM Super Cruise system. Fresh colors and materials will give the interior a makeover, while ergonomics and interior space will be improved.
Motivation is expected to be supplied by a new small-displacement turbocharged gasoline engine paired with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission.

Ok. So they show the Vette 2X and a race car Camaro. Never once a Malibu or Bolt.
Chevy: The brand you want to drive as long as you want to drive a truck or SUV. Pathetic.
Chevy is a known SUV brand. When non car people think of a car they go to a Honda lot. Chevy is trying to make “SUV’s” the same size and price as an accord or Camry to say, why have a car when you can have an SUV??? And in many cases it’s working. Chevy has had a lot of conquest success. More lately than the past 20 years.
Well I guess we can agree to disagree on that Steve. When I think of Chevy, immediately I think of Impala, Malibu, Silverado, Caprice, Tahoe and Bolt if talking about more recent. If years ago, mostly the same but with Cavalier, Chevette and Celebrity added in.
They (GM) are selling what they want to sell and not what most buyers want. If they were, Toyota and Honda and Kia and Hyundai and Nissan wouldn’t be selling so many cars. So if Chevy/GM just wants to be SUV and truck, good luck with that. But I’ll be out with the millions of others.
They stopped selling cars because they were losing. Losing market share and losing money. Honda is plenty profitable selling cars.
The Malibu is coming. With GM keeping tight lipped, it could mean an exciting replacement. The Bolt will be back, but it doesn’t seem realistic allocation of resources to produce a unique EV alongside a lineup of separate vehicles on a common platform. When the revised Bolt arrives in ’25, it will be worth the wait. By then the kinks should be worked out of Ultium, and economies of scale with make it worthwhile.
Geoff: I sure hope you are correct about the new Malibu and I can only wish that they would bring it in PHEV and EV both. As for the Bolt, I hope it is worth the wait. But if they make it into just another CUV/SUV, then I’m out. Although I’m not overly excited about my 2023 Bolt for looks, it’s close enough to my favorite hot hatch (VW Gold) that it passed enough to earn a spot in my garage. I did look at the EUV Bolt, but that one was too SUV and too big for what I wanted.
TRAVERSE IN CACTI GREEN.
I would reather have a Gmc terrain
For many thousands more. Not worth it.
When I bought my truck I was looking at both the Silverado & Sierra. I didn’t like the front end of the Silverado (2020) & thought like you that the difference must be a couple thousand & wasn’t worth the difference. So I built essentially the same truck in their Build & Price tool on the Chevy & GMC websites. The difference between the two was about $500. The main difference between a GMC & Chevy, other than the styling, seems to be that the GMC comes with more options as standard, where with the Chevy they’re not. So if you want a cheaper bare bones truck, Chevy is probably a bit cheaper. But if you’re looking at something more well optioned, then the difference is minimal
When I used the build and price tool last year for a 2023 Silverado 2500HD in LT1 or LT2 trim compared to a 2023 Sierra 2500 SLE 1 or SLE 2 (both gas trucks), the GMC consistently came out about $2000 higher. I closely went through the features and found very few differnces. I believe the GMC had Intellibeam where the Silverado did not. The biggest difference was that the GMC has LED head and tail lights, which is nice, but couldn’t justify the extra $2000 for that. I expected to find big differnces in the standard equipment, but I just didn’t outside of the LED. Additionally, GMC forces you into an SLT if you want the option of leather or a center console, both of which are available on the LT but not the SLE. I guess 1500’s must be priced closer, but not the HD trucks, at least not in 2023.
I was looking at the 1500 series in both models, with the trims being the RST for the Chevy & the Elevation for the GMC, as they are comparable trims. The only thing the RST had over the Elevation was the ability to get the 6.2 for the top engine where the GMC topped out at the 5.3.
One of the main reasons I didn’t go with the Chevy was the front end, it just looked like they rushed it, especially where the fender met the bumper. They corrected it on the ’22 refresh.
The best part of getting the ’20 model Sierra Elevation was that they substituted the 10 speed tranny over the 8 speed as they were still having issues with it. For what I haul, the 5.3/10 speed combo is great for towing. IIRC they went back to the 8 speed for the ’21 model year, so I lucked out there.
But GMC is Professional Grade! LOL!
In 2023 the GMC had the fancy onstar package included for 3 years. It added $1500 to the price.
This is no longer the case in 2024, so the GMC actually went down in price from 23 to 24.
I thought it was a Traverse but I guess when you look closely it says Equinox. Anyway the new Equinoix will be a mini Traverse. It better have a 200+ hp version. I’d love to see a hybrid of some sort but GM doesn’t do hybrids. I’m thinking we’ll see the ICE Equinox in the first quarter of next year or spring. I’m also wondering the status of the 2025 Malibu. I believe it was confirmed we’ll see an all new Malibu, was this confirmed or am I wrong?
I heard 1.5t and 2.0t
If it is any chevy it is silverado EV. Just photo shoped caddilac IQ shown.
At Chevy, we still make cars. Sure, it’s a 2-seater with no usable storage space, but it’s still a car.
We’ll even sell you a truck with a bed longer than 5′. But you’ll need to special order that since no one else really wants that.
Is that a 2.0T Badge next to Equinox?
“Equinox AWD” on the left and “Activ” on the right.
Chevy what did u do to the equinox. It’s really ugly. Doesn’t look good at all. Looks like a traverse. Still gald I got my 2.0 redline turbo equinox. Goodness. The engineers could have designed that in to a sport look and not boxy looking. Sad whats the ceo doing to this company.
Looking good! Shame about the low percentage of U.S. parts content. Current Equinox has only 20% U.S. parts and is built in Mexico, while a Nissan Rogue built in Tennessee has 25%, and a Hyundai Tucson has 50% U.S. parts and is built in Alabama.
If I pay attention to this fact, it saddens me as a lifetime member of the GM (not gm) fan club. It is a dilemma as I shop for a new vehicle. Should I remain loyal to a corporation, or to my country’s workers? I am leaning toward the workers.
Chevrolet. The “Heartbeat of America”: Trax (Korea); Trailblazer (Korea); Malibu (Fairfax, KS – woo!); Equinox (Mexico); Blazer (Mexico).
Have to get to hulking SUVs and trucks (or specialty coupe halo cars) to get assembled in US. (Of global content.)
New UAW agreement will make that worse.
Not so sure about Cacti on something this large, just like Fountain Blue on the current Nox.
I really doubt that the Activ will have standard AWD. Wouldn’t shock me to see the FWD Trailblazer exit stage left for ’25, though, seeing that the Trax will take its FWD sales. TB needs a content redo since the Trax has more in certain areas. And a price drop.
I’m really worried about the width of this thing since the Chinese version is 75″ and that’s a no-go with our 2-car garage size. Current one would be a squeeze but doable.
The new tagline is “meh”. Never got the old one – it screamed “we’re lost” but the new one doesn’t say much of anything.
I like the Fountain Blue on the Trax and Trailblazer. Current Equinox/Terrain are available in Riptide Blue (I forget GMC’s name for the color) which is also the feature color on the vaporware Equinox EV. While I like blue, I honestly do not care for the brightness of Riptide on the current Equinox/Terrain. The Lakeshore Blue looks much better overall, imo, but even then, if you look too close, you will see the bumpers match terribly on Lakeshore Blue vehicles. You would think they’d come up with a plastic painting process that matches the sheetmetal parts by now, I mean it is rather late in the game for something as amateur as mismatched bumper colors.
I like the cacti green color. Of course it will be offered for one year and dropped in favor of yet another gray color.
GM should do something cool for a change.
I would reather have a Gmc terrain
I don’t know why anyone would buy an Equinox? There’s so many better vehicles in it’s class. The current Equinox is average at best. Cheap looking and feeling interior and a very boring powertrain. It’s just a boring vehicle to drive.
It may be boring to you , but a very reliable and easy to live with vehicle.
We currently have 2 , a 2019 premier 1.5 AWD with 240 km and a 2020 midnight 2.0l AWD .
Both have been excellent , and the 2020 2.0l is actually fun to drive with the very eager 2.0l engine
both have been very reliable , especially the 2019 with more that 240,000kms. its quiet , tight and rattle free after 5 years on the road and more than 240 kms. There is a lot here to like
This is the 5th and 6th Equinox we have owned, 2 of the first gen , 2 of the second and 2 of the 3rd.
I am anxious to see the 2025 in person and will most likely order one in the Activ trim.
I think Chey has ruined the Equinox and the Traverse. Bother were really good looking but these latest updates are ugly.
Absolutely and obviously personal opinion. I think the upcoming Traverse and Equinox are by far the best looking version they will have made. I like both much better than the current and any previous generation, though I think both the Traverse and Equinox have both improved in looks with each generation.
The front looks like the Hyundai palisade, looks awful in my opinion, I have the 2020 equinox 2.0t premier and couldn’t be happier, this was a fail.
My Dad had a 2020. The fuel pump went. He had electrical issues with it and also a radiator hose had to be replaced.(He’s in his early 80’s so he doesn’t drive much) It had less than 9,000 miles on it when he traded it in last year for a 2023. In my original comment I said the current Equinox. In which the 2.0 is no longer available. That’s a huge mistake because the 1.5 is underpowered. To compensate for that in the 2023 they made the gas pedal very touchy to make it seem more responsive. It’s awful. I have driven both the 2020 and 2023, and I can’t stand the feel of the pedal in the 2023. With 175 hp the thing just won’t get out of it’s own way.
Completely disagree. The 1.5 turbo is very responsive and with the very good torque curve low in the rev band which makes it feels faster than it is. If you think the 2023 Equinox has a touchy throttle you would have really hated my 87 Bonneville. Most of the GM V6 engines of the 80’s and 90’s had a truly rattlesnake bite like throttle response.
I had an 88 and 89 Beretta GT and an 87 Fiero GT and an 89 Celebrity Eurosport, and several 90’s GM vehicles with V6 engines. None of them were touchy like the Equinox I drove.
You must have 2 of the the 4 spark plug wires off or you expect Corvette acceleration in this family vehicle.
We have a 2019 1.5AWL and live in a hilly area of the country and have no trouble passing up hill on the highway.
Last year took 4 full size adults on a road trip and they commented on how comfortable and quiet the Nox is . Never was it not able to keep up with traffic and pass on the highway with 4 on board.
The 2019 has more than 240,000 kms and it works incredibly well , I see no reason to expect it will not do another 200k without major repairs.
I have owned 6 Nox with the first one being a 2005 . I liked them all and see each redesign as an improvement. I especially like the look of the 2025 and will be anxious to see the Activ Trim.
Oh yes and glad it will be made in Mexico so i don’t have to support the ridiculous contract the UAW just extorted from GM.
Like what I saw … still like the ’24 Trax better.
Simply will not buy what is pushed. Don’t want a command height position, top heavy, 3-row seating, AWD, roaring 3-cylinder turbo, tactical cut SUV reminding me of an Imperial Storm Trooper, getting 11mpg at 80. No way that thing can hold up to long distance Interstate.
The 3 cylinder in our new company Trax is quieter than any 4 cylinder we have in the group . I’ll bet you have never driver one , because your comments are not the actual experience.
So, this is the next generation Equinox. It looks more truck like than the current model. It seems that GM designers are trying to up the competition such as Hyundai since those SUVS have similar facades. I like the current design and those models are on my short list of future vehicles to be considered. There are many Equinox models turned in and sold as certified. If the oil changes were done and the milage is average they are a good value for the money. GM as usual will add a lot more tech and have a boring color palette. I am sure that this next generation will sell. Why would GM want to kill the golden goose. I wish that GM would build them in the US. My question regards the Trax & Trail Blazer. I wonder if the new Trax is eating into sales of the Trail Blazer & if one will eventually cancel out the other? I am still uneasy about the longevity of a 3-cylinder engine going past 100,000 + miles. I have seen a lot of Equinox, few Traverses, very few Blazers, new Trax and Trail Blazers. There are a ton of the previous Trax out & about especially with the redesigned fascia. They are so different from the new model I bet that the trade in value has dropped even further.
i have bought 2 Chevy’s over the last couple of decades. I like the look of the Blaser and the Equinox. After spending $2500.00 on a rear seal because of a design flaw with the PCV valve, Chevy’s are a hard pass for me. I.can’t afford another lemon.
I just hope the Chevy Equinox has a better motor and hopefully that doesn’t keep eating quarts of oil from1-3 states of travel.!! I went from NC to FL and back. Ate 1 quart on the way down. Then on the way back it eat 4 quarts, now after oil change and etc. the car won’t start AT ALL.!!! I’ve been told there were recalls on them but mine was older a year 2012, plus mileage is pass 125,000!!! Chevy is conducting test with a few of the new Equinox now for that same reason of oil consumption test.!! Well I don’t know but I say they should replace my motor and stand by their products!!
I’m looking into just trying to trade it off for a Ford, KIA, Dodge, Jeep, ETC.. it ran really good the first four months then after that it had all kinds of issues!!!!
