GM made the first Corvette Museum Delivery option (RPO code R8C) delivery of the 2024 Corvette Stingray on Friday, September 29th, with the fanfare and ceremony expected as part of the choice to receive one’s vehicle at the National Corvette Museum.
The 2024 Corvette Stingray Convertible bore the VIN number 001 and was handed over to its new owners, Jeff and Missy Garner, to the sound of enthusiastic applause from other Corvette fans and GM personnel.
The Garners bought the 2024 Corvette Stingray Convertible using insurance money paid out after their previous Vette, a 2019 Watkins Glen Grey Corvette Grand Sport, was smashed during a storm. Jeff Garner noted that the 2019 Grand Sport “was a special car as that was a gift from my wife Missy,” but also remarked that the 001 VIN number and museum delivery makes the new car “my dream Corvette.”
The 2024 Corvette Stingray Convertible that kicked off Corvette Museum deliveries for the 2024 model year is finished in Arctic White paint (color code G8G), with an Adrenaline Red interior colorway. The Chevy sports car also appears to be equipped with the usually LPO level or dealer-installed Stingray R Appearance Package (RPO code PDV) that includes the following elements (relevant RPO codes in parenthesis):
- Corvette Racing Themed Graphics Package with Jake and Stingray R logos (SB7)
- (VWD) Stingray R logo wheel center caps
In addition to the appearance package, the 001 VIN number 2024 Corvette Stingray delivered to the Garners seems to have the following optional components installed:
- 20-spoke Gloss Black forged aluminum wheels (Q9I)
- Carbon Flash Metallic-painted High wing spoiler, LPO (5ZZ)
- Carbon Flash Metallic-painted carbon fiber ground effects, LPO (5W8)
- Bright Red-painted brake calipers (JF6)
The Garners also chose the Corvette Museum Delivery option, which is available in collaboration with the National Corvette Museum (NCM). The Museum stands close to the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky, where the Chevy Corvette has been produced since 1981.
The Corvette Museum Delivery option starts with a guided VIP tour of the facility by the owner and up to three guests. The owner then receives an orientation with their Corvette and a ceremonial presentation of the vehicle. Additionally, the package includes a commemorative wall plaque, a 12-month National Corvette Museum membership, and a gold door jamb decal.
As GM Authority reported this summer, the price for the Corvette Museum Delivery option increased sharply for the 2024 Corvette model year, rising $500 to $1,495. Overall pricing for the 2024 Corvette has also increased from the 2024 model year, with existing trims costing $1,500 to $3,000 more than in 2023. This includes a $200 rise in destination freight charge, now pegged at $1,595.
The 2024 Corvette launches the fifth model year of the Chevy Corvette C8. The eighth-generation sports car features several important updates and changes, including launch of the hybrid, all-wheel-drive 2024 Corvette E-Ray.

We took advantage of the museum delivery offer on our 2023 convertible in February. It was a great experience starting with the assistance of the staff in providing information to scheduling the pick, up through the presentation of our car and then the factory tour across the highway. Everything was done in a friendly, yet professional manner. We highly recommend taking advantage of the museum delivery option. After we picked up our car, we drove to New Jersey and then had an epic road trip back to San Diego including some Route 66 stopovers. It was a fun Corvette experience we will long remember!.
Doesn’t a long highway trip go against the recommended break in recommendations? I thought about choosing the factory delivery option until I read that. I live in Southwest Florida so I thought that it was to far a drive, especially being a 2020 model. The dealer knew less about the car than I did. Dealer knowledge about the new Hummer is even worse!
Hi Rob,
The break-in period is 500 miles. The instructions when leaving the museum are not to keep the RPMs at a steady level, not to exceed the redline (which I believe was 5500 RPMs), and not to use cruise control. At 501 miles, the dashboard changes, and the redline moves up to normal 6500 RPMS. They also stressed that at 5,000 miles take the car to the dealer for the complimentary 1st service. We followed these instructions and had no issues. I hope this helps.
