The 2024 Corvette introduces the fifth model year for the mid-engine sports car, bringing with it a few important updates and changes. Among these changes is a new infotainment system that incorporates Google built-in features. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the new infotainment system in the 2024 Corvette.
The 2024 Corvette is now equipped as standard with the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium audio system with an eight-inch touchscreen. Tagged with RPO code IOK, this system incorporates Google built-in features, but also continues to offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration for those customers that prefer the smartphone mirroring services.
The new IOK Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium audio system with eight-inch touchscreen replaces to systems offered previously for the C8 Corvette during the course of the 2020 through 2023 model years. Specifically, these systems that were replaced include (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses:
- Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium audio system with eight-inch touchscreen (IOS)
- Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium audio system with connected navigation and eight-inch touchscreen (IOT)
The IOS system was previously included as standard on C8 Corvette Stingray 1LT and C8 Corvette Z06 1LZ trim levels, while the IOT system was offered as optional on C8 Corvette Stingray 1LT and C8 Corvette Z06 1LZ trim levels, and included as standard on C8 Corvette Stingray 2LT and 3LT, as well as C8 Corvette Z06 2LZ and 3LZ trim levels.
As GM Authority covered previously, OnStar, GM’s subscription-based telematics service, now includes a slew of Google Built-in features. These features include Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play. However, users who choose not to pay for an OnStar subscription will lose out on some of these features, and as it turns out, the only features available without a subscription are AM/FM radio, Bluetooth phone and streaming audio connectivity, and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto.
As a reminder, the 2024 Corvette lineup includes the C8 Corvette Stingray, the C8 Corvette Z06, and the new-for-2024 C8 Corvette E-Ray. All three models ride on the GM Y2 platform and are produced at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

I don’t need any of it. What I do need is a system that lets you copy a music CD to it, not to a flash drive, as doing that does not work perfectly. Audi does it properly. CDs are copied properly to what is called the juke box and you access them there.
You are absolutely 100% spot on. When I buy a CD I want to be able to enjoy it on my phone, in my car, in my yard, on my computer or anywhere else I happen to be and I will not pay a subscription for it. Furthermore, I don’t want Google or Amazon or any Chinese hi-tech entity in control of or monitoring any function in my car or home.
Spot on reply, my 2023 Silverado has Google b built in, the question I had for the dealer is how do we remove it.
I don’t need Google, Siri, Alexa or the Chinese government in my house or my car either.
I have been a life long GM customer. I have owned every GM brand except Buick and Saturn. I have owned Cadillacs since 2009. I am not interested in anything to do with Google and will not purchase any vehicle forcing this awful technology on me…!!!
I am not a fan of Google I have owned GM my whole life I liked it when u bought a GM and what u needed was already there, for what these vehicles cost u shouldn’t have to pay for any subscription
Now if it would just fold up so I could stick it in my pocket, it could replace my cellphone.
wait a second, if you have apple car play, doesn’t google maps on I phone work? I hate On star
I have this Google system on my 2024 Silverado RST. You can use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay for free. But the functionality of the built-in Google Maps (replaced built-in GPS), Assistant or Play Store for other apps stops working without a data subscription through OnStar The free trial for me was 3 months and I’m still using it. From what I can tell it will be $25 per month if you want to keep using that functionality.
So if you pay $49.99 a month for On Star, you can use Google. WOW, what a deal. Living in Michigan, my C8 sits for 6 months in winter. My 22 Tahoe sits 6 summer months so if I were dumb enough to pay for On Star on both I would be paying $1,200 a year how about I add Siri so I can listen to the latest Rap Stars WOW more money Siri haunted me for 2 years to sign up for that junk. BOY, DO I MISS THE 12-DISC CD CHANGER IN MY C5.
hey kids, exciting news. Now Google can collect and sell your data from your CAR! And how much would you pay for this fantastic feature, Not $400 a month, not $200 a month, but for only $49.99 a month, you can have google collect all your behavorial data and sell it to their valuable marketing partners. So act now, We know you want it.
Certainly DO NOT need Google, it’s taking over our lives. I read that GM is dropping Apple CarPlay in the near future and will have their own system, doesn’t sound like good news, guess they’re tired of paying Apple? I use Spotify and WAZE maps with Apple Carplay. WAZE keeps you informed about what is ahead.
Wouldn’t it be nice if General Motors made chose to stick to doing the best they can as an automobile maker and leave this other crap to those that excel at that. It seems they over value the heck out of onstar and are now resorting to sketchy tactics to coerce customers to pay these stupid outlandish fees for a package that has highly limited value to many if not most of us.
Been chevy for most of my 71 years, but a couple years ago bought a new Ram Mega cab because the chevy and gmc fell short and was not gonna play the onstar game. Last week bout a new Grand Cherokee for the same reasons. Ethical behavior just doesn’t seem to be their strong suit. Already thinking of selling my C8 too. The crazy and unethical pricing of dealers on “Americas sportscar” and lack of action by gm leaves me disgusted and just about to finish moving on. Have found others share the sentiment. I do hope gm gets their act together. Maybe this sales model works for them. I believe in taking care of the customers and they will take care of you. Has worked for me for 44 years, and I don’t have to put out fires or spend major $$ on advertising. The customers do that for me. My 2 cents.
I just purchased a 2024 wit Corvette and experiencing issues with vehicles settings I think are tied to my use of CarPlay. I was really concerned that there was no CarPlay support in the 2024 but my sales rep showed me it worked. After purchase and registration with my included Onstar subrspition and a working CarPlay I took off. While I have not confirmed it the selection of CarPlay “may wreck” some of the desired vehicles features like:
1.) Setting car to Sport mode defaults to Tour on restart
2.) Custom seating functions don’t work. Setting a custom depart and return seat position does not work automatically.
3.) On departing the vehicle I have the car set to stay unlock but the car will automatically lock no matter what I do.
I think that customization of vehicle setting default to factory settings if you use CarPlay. Customization is not maintained and I suspect this was GM’s concession to Apple users, you get CarPlay but not full Auto features.
Is it even possible to play any iPod ( which ones that work) on the 2024 corvette and if so, how?
