The 2024 Corvette introduces the mid-engine C8’s fifth model year, debuting a number of important updates and changes. Notably, the 2024 Corvette also introduces a few new styling bits, including a new red rear fascia script. Now, GM Authority has the details on this interesting new aesthetic enhancement.
The styling option in question is officially dubbed the Edge Red painted rear Corvette script, and is tagged with RPO code SL8. The upgrade is offered as an LPO-level option, which means it is installed by the dealer, rather than at the factory when the vehicle is initially produced. It replaces last year’s Elkhart Lake Blue painted rear Corvette script, which was also tagged with RPO code SL8.
The new Edge Red painted rear Corvette script is available on all trim levels of the C8 Corvette Stingray, C8 Corvette Z06, and C8 Corvette E-Ray. Pricing is set at $375.
To note, the C8 Corvette already offered prior to the 2024 model year the Arctic White painted rear Corvette script (RPO code RIN) and the Torch Red painted rear Corvette script (RPO code RIK). Both of these items are priced at $395.
The big headline for the 2024 Corvette is undoubtedly the introduction of the new C8 Corvette E-Ray, which debuts the first-ever production Corvette to offer a hybrid powertrain, not to mention the first-ever production Corvette to offer all-wheel drive. The powertrain includes the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT2 gasoline engine, the same powerplant cradled by the C8 Corvette Stingray, which is mated to a single front-mounted electric motor and 1.9 kWh battery pack. Peak output is rated at a combined 655 horsepower, which, put to the pavement with all-wheel grip, yields a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds.
Meanwhile, the 2024 Corvette lineup continues to offer the new C8 Corvette Z06, which is powered by the naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine to produce 670 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, and the C8 Corvette Stingray, which produces 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque.
All C8 Corvette variants ride on the GM Y2 platform, and all are produced at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

Good for an extra 5hp…
…that 5hp comes from taking an extra $375 from your wallet!
GM needs to offer Edge Red seat belts too.
Now if they could only deliver on marketing’s 11K+ variations of the Corvette they still wouldn’t get MY vote for company of the year!
