Both the 2024 Cadillac XT5 and 2024 Cadillac XT6 luxury crossovers are included in a new safety recall issued by GM for certain units of the nameplates that may have been produced without the correct windshield adhesive.
The problem: during assembly, the windshields of the affected 2024 Cadillac XT5 and XT6 crossovers may not have been bonded in place with primer and sealant, meaning the windshields of some units may not be attached properly to the vehicle body.
The hazards: lacking the proper adhesive to hold it in place, the windshield of affected vehicles could detach from the body during a collision, creating an increased injury hazard for the vehicle’s occupants.
The fix: dealer service personnel should inspect units of the 2024 Cadillac XT5 and XT6 which may be affected by the recall, and determine if the windshield is correctly bonded in place with urethane sealant. If the windshield can be moved, it should be further inspected to see if it has cracks, breaks, or damage.
If the windshield proves to be undamaged the dealership should apply correct primer and urethane sealant and bond the windshield to the crossover body. If the windshield is cracked or damaged, it should be replaced with a new windshield, which is then fixed in place with the proper urethane adhesive.
GM issued a hold for all potentially defective 2024 Cadillac XT5 and XT6 units. This means dealers should not sell, deliver, demonstrate, or trade possibly affected crossovers until the vehicles have been inspected and cleared, or had the noted repair carried out if needed.
The GM Global Warranty Management system can be used to verify vehicle involvement before inspection begins. The Investigate Vehicle History screen of a specific XT5 or XT6 will be marked “Open” if an inspection and/or fix is required.
Affected components: windshield.
Number of affected vehicles: Eight units of the 2024 Cadillac XT5 and nine units of the XT6 are affected by the recall.
Owners should: owners of 2024 Cadillac XT5 or XT6 crossovers which might lack the necessary windshield bonding can contact Cadillac customer service at the telephone supplied below, referring to the safety recall number to identify the specific issue, and request more information or voice their concerns:

I guess QUALITY ISN’T JOB #1 at GM. Is adhesive on constraint too or is this a UAW employee’s way of helping the cause?
It’s not a good idea to buy a car from a manufacturer that has been struck. Wait a model year. Or more.
Is it any better to buy from a socialist European auto company or a communist based auto company? Everyone can bad mouth any company they want, but at least Cadillac is responding fast to a potential break and this is not from a human error as the bonding adhesive is robotic applied, so if it is not from the loading of the supplies into the hopper for the gun, then this is automation breakdown. Minor issue that many companies with like recalls have fixed and moved forward
