GM has issued a safety recall for certain units of the 2023 GMC Acadia crossover which may have been produced without the windshield being correctly bonded to the vehicle body with urethane sealant.
The problem:Â affected units of the 2023 GMC Acadia may have been improperly assembled, with the urethane sealant used to bond the windshield in place improperly applied or not applied at all, leaving the windshield unattached to the SUV body.
The hazards:Â if the windshield is not firmly bonded to the vehicle body, it could come loose during a collision, increasing the risk of injury to the SUV’s occupants.
The fix:Â GM has instructed its dealers to inspect possibly affected units of the 2023 GMC Acadia to see if the windshield is correctly fixed in place with urethane sealant or if it can be moved. If the windshield is not bonded to the vehicle, the dealer should inspect it further to see if it has become cracked, damaged, or broken.
If an improperly attached windshield is undamaged, the dealer should apply the proper primer and urethane sealant to bond it in place. If the windshield glass is damaged, the windshield should be replaced and the bonded in place with primer and urethane.
GM has placed a hold on all possibly affected 2023 GMC Acadia units currently in dealership inventories. Dealers should not sell, deliver, demonstrate, or trade these SUV units until proper inspection has been carried out and the fix described above applied if necessary.
Dealers should check to see if a specific vehicle is marked as “Open” on the Investigate Vehicle History screen, found in the GM Global Warranty Management system, before starting inspection or repair.
Affected components:Â windshield.
Number of affected vehicles: 25 units of the 2023 GMC Acadia are affected by the recall.
Owners should:Â owners of 2023 GMC Acadia units that may have been produced without the correct windshield adhesive can contact GMC customer service for more information, using the toll free telephone number listed below and referencing the safety recall number as needed.

What??!! How does no one notice this during assembly?
Maybe a 40% pay increase will convince them to care enough to check for that.
Or maybe a 40% reduction for one pay cycle when assembly line errors like this happen.
Windshield install is a100% robotic operation. I’m not saying this is excusable, but only to your point about how does no one (human) notice this.
