The 2024 GMC Sierra HD officially hit the limelight last year, revealing a refresh that includes new exterior styling, a new cabin, two new trim levels, and a powertrain update. According to GM Authority sources, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD is currently unavailable to order with the 20-inch Machined Aluminum Bolt Pattern wheels with High Gloss Black Accents. Tagged with RPO code SQ9, these wheels are offered as an LPO-level option, which means they are installed by the dealer, as opposed to at the factory when the vehicle is initially produced.
Normally, the 20-inch Machined Aluminum Bolt Pattern wheels with High Gloss Black Accents are offered as optional on 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trim levels. Pricing is normally set at $3,350.
Making its formal introduction in October of the 2022 calendar year, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD features an updated look thanks to a new front bumper, a new fascia, a new grille, and six new exterior colors. The 2024 model-year refresh also introduces the new GMC Sierra HD AT4X, which ups the Sierra HD’s off-road prowess with a variety of trail-ready components and equipment.
As for the greasy bits under the hood, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD is available with two powertrain options, starting with the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine as standard, with output set at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. Customers can also opt for the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, which was uprated for the 2024 model year to 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque.
A more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan.

Oh well, what’s new? Another GM parts shortage!
My truck is currently being built and those wheels are on my order. There was no constraint when I ordered it in August (got the allocation immediately, only constraint was the console-mounted safe so I removed that). So, I assume I’ll be getting a set they did have available prior to this announcement even though they are dealer-installed? I’ll be pissed if they don’t give me my wheels!
Well, I ordered my 3500 Denali with 20-inch Machined Aluminum Bolt Pattern wheels with High Gloss Black Accents and was told in August that they were not available. Now It’s a dealer install. Terrible communication between the Dealer and GMC factory.
They were always dealer-installed. The truck ships with wheels just for shipping and then the dealer installs the nice ones once the truck arrives. You can see such on your invoice/window sticker. If they weren’t available when you ordered, either your dealer didn’t have the allocation for them or GMC was already out of stock of them. My order was in early August and had no constraint on the wheels then.
