Stunt Driver Goes Full Send In Buick Roadmaster Wagon: Video

With generous interior space, wood paneling, and land-boat-style exterior dimensions, the Buick Roadmaster is the sort of vehicle you’d expect to see on a family road trip or on the way to soccer practice. However, one stunt driver decided to make this grocery-getter go airborne at last week’s Holley LS Fest East event, even dropping an LS V8 under the hood prior to blast off to make sure it had enough power to skim some clouds. Now, we’re watching the stunt thanks to the following viral video.
Behind the wheel of this flying five-door is Jim York, a madman from Utah who teamed up with Travis Pastrana to launch the Channel 199 YouTube channel in 2022. Now, York is leveraging his Internet stardom to launch himself using all manner of motorized machines.
York’s most-recent project took inspiration from the movie National Lampoon’s Vacation, specifically when Clark Griswold sends the Family Truckster flying through the air.
Naturally, York was going to need a little extra help to achieve liftoff in the Buick Roadmaster. As such, the wagon was fitted with a new LS V8, as well as safety gear like a roll cage and harnesses. A luggage rack was added up top to complete the Truckster transformation.
With some sponsor stickers plastered over the wood paneling and the jump ramp prepared, York went full send, blasting off from behind the wheel of the enormous family wagon in a dignified arc before landing nose first in the dirt.

Apparently, York wanted to outdistance the Family Truckster’s 150-foot jump, a goal which he achieved in the record-setting 165-foot stunt. The Buick Roadmaster, however, did not fare well. The landing was, well, a bit rough, with the wagon taking the full brunt directly on the front bumper, bending the Buick at an obscene angle before sending it into a roll. York looks as though he walked away unhurt, cheering to the crowd and celebrating the achievement. No word on parting out the LS.

Kind of a waste.
Stupid and a waste. I say this having owned a Caprice wagon for 24 years.
It was rowdy, glad to have your support. Can’t wish til the next one!
Why? stupid
You know what the last words of the worlds biggest moron was? “ Hey Mom, watch this?
My mom loved this. Glad to see you did too, thanks dude!!
All these peeps are too city and scared to have a little fun. Glad to see you are one of the few left willing to get dirty. Super Sweet Video!!!
This is why we can’t KEEP nice things. Absolutely moronic.
Sad. I’ve owned 2 roadmasters. Clearly this one had some rust issues but would have been good enough to save or part out. Why not an ugly 70s wagon??
Wait a minute! Wait a minute! ( think Moonstruck)
Isn’t THIS Roadmaster “an UGLY wagon??”
This is not the car I ordered. I distinctly ordered the Antarctic Blue Super Sports Wagon with the C.B. and optional rally fun pack.
These wagons have become quite collectible and were the last of the biguns. I’ve owned 3 Caprice wags and 2 Roadmasters and all were very good vehicles. If this was decent one then this person is an idiot.
Should have done like they did for Dukes of Hazzard episodes and put some weight in the rear of the car to avoid landing so hard on the nose. This was a waste as they should have used a car in much worse shape for this stunt. Idiots!
Thanks for the support truly appreciate it!
Fool!
Love that Jim York is commenting back here lmao what a madman
What a Jackass!
Hell yea bud it was rad!
If it is him, there really doesn’t seem to be much name verification here…..
