Ringbrothers Debut ‘RASKAL’ 1972 K5 Chevy Blazer

The folks at Ringbrothers have unveiled a new, fully custom 1972 K5 Chevy Blazer dubbed “RASKAL”. The product of nearly 3,000 hours of painstaking work, this new Ringbrothers Chevy Blazer is dripping in bespoke details and hand-crafted components, along with a modern 6.2L LS3 V8 under the hood.

A fully custom 1972 K5 Chevy Blazer created by Ringbrothers.

Outside, there’s a hand-shaped body that’s had “every panel and surface customized,” per Ringbrothers. The original hardtop, side glass, and rear glass were replaced with a custom full-length two-piece aluminum canopy, which is removable for an in-the-elements driving experience. The quarter panels and tailgate were raised to the same height as the doors, while the handles were relocated to the top to the doors for a sleek bodyside. The new Ringbrothers Chevy Blazer also rides on a set of one-off 18-inch wheels designed to mimic the style of the Blazer’s original factory rollers. The whole thing is covered in Ringbrothers’ proprietary BASF Glasurit Waterborne paint mix, dubbed Bashful Blue.

Of course, the interior was fully upgraded as well, with Steve Pearson from Upholstery Unlimited handling the work in the cabin. Highlights include in-house fabricated seats, custom dash bezels, Dakota Digital instrumentation, and a custom steering wheel.

This Chevy Blazer is motivated by a 6.2L LS3 V8 engine from Wegner Motorsports, the output of which is rated at 430 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque. The go is directed through a Bowler Tru-Street GM 4L80E automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive system. There’s also a set of Currie Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear axles.

Under the skin is a custom RS4 Roadster Shop chassis, with a triangulated four-link suspension setup and Fox Racing coilovers. Baer six-piston calipers with 13-inch rotors at each corner throw the anchor. Wrapping the custom 18-inch wheels is a set of Nitto Ridge Grappler rubber.

“With this project, we wanted to explore the nuance of sport utility and evolve the K5 Blazer’s original lines and proportions into something that celebrated the K5’s go everywhere, do everything attitude,” says Ringbrothers co-owner Jim Ring.

  1. Damn , GM should have built that instead of the hideous design of the new Blazer

    1. They did build it…….51 years ago. That market is miniscule compared to the market that the new Blazer sells to, they’d have to charge $100K+ to make any profit, which means they’d sell 8 of them. Maybe.

  2. Only 430hp and the engine was built by an engine builder? Pretty mild.
