NASCAR Chevy Teams Outdone By Toyota In Xfinity Texas 2023: Video

Justin Allgaier looked to be the most dominant driver during the Xfinity Series race at Texas on September 23rd, 2023, throwing the No. 7 NASCAR Chevy Camaro around the track ahead of the pack for 133 laps. Unfortunately, he was outperformed by the No. 20 Toyota TRD Supra of John Hunter Nemechek once again, who sailed around Allgaier and other Bow Tie teams on his way to his seventh victory in the division this year.

Allgaier managed to nab both Stage 1 and Stage 2 wins, but found himself locked in a battle with fellow NASCAR Chevy driver Parker Kligerman, whose No. 48 Camaro was also near the front of the field for most of the race. Allgaier got loose underneath Kligerman, washing up the track after the green flag waved on a restart with 10 laps left. Both drivers gathered it back together, but Kligerman wasn’t able to hold off a hard-charging Nemechek.

Ultimately, Allgaier’s No. 7 Camaro was scored fifth at the line – not the result he was hoping for, but certainly not one to be too disappointed about. Kligerman, meanwhile, walked away with a second-place finish, and both drivers had a confrontation on Pit Road after the checkered flag waved.

“Had a great run, got to him [Allgaier], and I don’t know how much we got squeezed or didn’t. I thought I could clear him super easily, but I got super loose,” he explained. “Feels like I got choked, he says he gave a lot of room. I’ll have to look at it.”

Allgaier disagreed, saying, “Parker, when I went and I talked to him, said I squeezed him. I felt like I left him plenty of room there, knowing he’d go to the bottom, and he drove it in super, super deep into [turn] three. And he’s been around the sport long enough to know what’s going to happen. Just disappointed. Not only did it mess up battling for second, it put us way up in the marbles.”
