More Details Revealed For Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally, For Which GM Has No Rival: Video

GM’s crosstown rival, Ford Motor Company, has released new details on the new Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally, a motorsport-inspired variant of the all-electric crossover designed to tackle a gravel stage just as easily as tarmac. Highlights include 480 horsepower, unique suspension, underbody protection, and unique styling. Although the Mustang Mach-E is rivaled by the Chevy Blazer EV, the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally variant currently has no direct rival from the GM camp.

Outside, the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally features twin racing stripes, which complement a variety of bright paint options, including Grabber Blue, Shadow Black, Eruption Green, and Grabber Yellow. Star White and Glacier Gray are offered for a bit more outlay. Contrasting accents were added to the upper and lower body moldings, and there’s a unique front splitter, a black roof, and a unique fascia with built-in rally-inspired fog lights and a recovery point. Underbody shielding was applied to the front and rear motors, and there is a protective film along the flanks that wards away rock chips. A rear spoiler inspired by the Focus RS finishes it off.

Motivation comes from a two-motor powertrain producing a total of 480 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Electrons are sourced from a lithium-ion battery pack with 91 kWh of usable capacity, capable of recharging from 10 percent to 80 percent in roughly 36 and a half minutes via a DC quick-charge source. Range-per-charge is set at 250 miles.

The suspension spec includes a 20 mm (roughly 0.8-inch) lift, as well as a unique tune for the spring and MagneRide shocks. Braking is provided by 385 mm (15.15-inch) front rotors and red-painted Brembo calipers, which sit under 19-inch gloss white rally-style wheels wrapped in 235/55 Michelin CrossClimate2 tires. There’s also a RallySport Drive Mode that alters vehicle settings for loose-surface driving.

Further unique touches are found inside, such as gloss white accents on the dash, steering wheel, and contrast stitching on the doors.

Pricing for the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally starts around $65,000, with availability opening up early next year.

Isn’t the Blazer SS at least somewhat comparable? I’m not sure about underbody protection, but it’s up there with the HP.

I don’t see it as appealing though. Off road for an EV? And if it runs out of juice? Tow truck in the wilderness for out of fuel. Urban is great for EV’s. High traffic congestion, lots of idling where EV’s shine. Plugs everywhere. Another problem I suspect for offroad is range is going to get killed. Lots of high energy pulls in rough terrain. Tires are going to need to be less energy efficient as well reducing on road mileage.

Saw one of these up close, Ford did a good job of making it ugly enough that it will never be mistaken for a real Mustang.

That dirt road looked way to challenging for a normal vehicle. Great thing they had rally mode. I would never feel safe tackling that kind of terrain in an i.c.e. vehicle let alone one that wasn’t so off road capable! Take my money!!!

GM doesn’t need to compete with a car that is only a pretender. The Mach-e is not a Mustang. It doesn’t look, ride, handle or feel feel like a Mustang. It’s just a make believe Mustang.
What for needs GM a make beleive Camaro?
