Hot Wheels To Launch Run The Jewels 1987 Buick Regal GNX

Mattel is partnering with lifestyle brand Volcom and hip-hop super-duo Run the Jewels (RTJ) to offer this new special edition 1987 Buick Regal GNX die-cast model. Inspired by RTJ album art and music videos, the special edition Buick Regal GNX was designed with input from RTJ members El-P and Killer Mike and incorporates a variety of unique touches. The model also includes unique packaging showing El-P and Killer Mike posing next to the real-life RTJ Buick Regal GNX.

New Run the Jewels Buick Regal GNX die-cast model from Hot Wheels.

Set at a 1:64 size, the new RTJ Buick Regal GNX features an opening hood and a full-metal ZAMAC body. The metal body is covered in the traditional Black paint, which is accented by a variety of graphics, front to back. Some of the highlights include the GNX logo in the vertical slats of the front grille, an “RTJ” license plate, the Hot Wheels logo in the fenders, a “Run the Jewels” banner across the windshield, the Volcom stone logo on the rear pillar, and the pistol and fist emblem on the roof.

The new Hot Wheels RTJ Buick Regal GNX rolls on a set of Real Riders 10-spoke wheels with rose gold VUM hubs, while the windows present a medium smoke tint. The interior is finished in black as well. No word on if the trunk is full of champagne.

Either way, the model is delivered in a special blister window with a pink background and the RTJ logo front and center. The packaging also includes a decorative outer sleeve that shows El-P and Killer Mike standing on either side of the real-life 1987 Buick Regal GNX seen in RTJ videos and album art, once again with a pink background.

The new Hot Wheels RTJ Buick Regal GNX will launch tomorrow, September 22nd, at 9 a.m. PT. Pricing is set at $35, with a limit of 10 units per order. Interested customers can sign up for email updates at the Mattel Creations website.

It almost looks like one of those 80s sedans you see driving around with 24″ wheels that weigh 110 pounds each and have rubber bands for tires.

My father had a gold Grand National. Not as crazy as the GNX but pretty stout turbo power.

I was living in Phoenix AZ about 7 years ago an.d was driving a 74 AMC Javelin with Centerline wheels. I drove up to a trailer that said Run The Jewels on it, I had never heard of them anyway I parked near their trailer which was on Van Buren Ave near a famous nightclub that featured a skeleton on a horse. Anyway one of the Run the Jewels singers saw my car and wanted photos of it so I obliged with the promise I would get copies of the pics…they never arrived.

Proportions don’t look right in the model.

I was a big GM fan back in the day. Buick and Olds were my to favorite. Though I know what that car means to some. I never particularly liked it.
