The sixth generation of the classic Bow Tie sports car is coming to a historic conclusion with the current 2024 Chevy Camaro and its two special-edition variants, the 2024 Chevy Camaro Collector’s Edition and the NASCAR-themed  2024 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Garage 56 Edition saluting the nameplate’s recent appearance in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The end of production for the 2024 Chevy Camaro is an important date and milestone in the sports car’s history, so it’s worth recalling when the last units will roll off the assembly line at GM factories.
The 2024 Chevy Camaro will end production in January 2024 as part of the condensed production run that GM Authority already reported on back in July. Multiple options have been eliminated from the list of those available on the 2024 Camaro, including the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG gasoline engine, several paint colors, the lowered suspension and sway bar options, the 20-inch Caliente wheels, and the base 1LS trim level.
Production of the 2024 Chevy Camaro is currently under way, having kicked off on August 7th, 2023 at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan. GM plans to produce approximately 60 percent more 2024 Chevy Camaro cars with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT1 engine than it did for the 2023 Chevy Camaro, making the highly popular powerplant with its peak output of 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque widely available.
The 2024 Chevy Camaro omits the previously available base 1LS trim level, leaving it with seven available trims, namely the 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, 1SS, 2SS, and the range-topping ZL1. Further variety is added to the lineup by the availability of both Coupe and Convertible body styles and the aforementioned Collector’s Edition package.
Pricing for the 2024 Chevy Camaro, including a destination freight charge of $1,595, starts at  $32,495 for the 1LT Coupe and ranges up to $79,695 for a ZL1 Convertible. GM also offers an exhaustive list of interior, exterior and mechanical options, including both standalone features or add-ons and complete packages.
As a reminder, 2024 Camaro powerplant options include the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT1 gasoline engine, and the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine. The GM Alpha platform provides structure under the body panels.

Wow! Why bother? Guess they’re clearing out the last parts in the warehouse? Guess Mary wants the last real car gm makes gone. She must be so proud.
Guess you’ll have to just buy a Charger. Oh wait !
I pay mind to the vehicles driving driving about. These days, it’s a depressing parade of anonymous SUV’s, CUV’s and oversized, overweight pickups. Most in shades of gray and white. These are bad times for a person who as a child, grew up in the 1960’s muscle car decade.
Whenever a Camaro is spotted, I pause and take it in. They will always remain special to me as my first car was a 74 Camaro Type LT, 350, 4 speed.
A pox on the people running this once great company into the ground. And a smile to every person driving by in their own Camaro. Long may they run.
But Mary’s super awesome according to the automotive press, kiss-our-butts-awards-givers, and many here on GMA…
To hell with GM’s deep, rich, and incredible heritage. Mary’s got the answers.
Most of the automotive press were not alive in the 60’s, so they have no clue.
We ordered a 2023 2ss in December 2 ,2022 and never got it. And now put in a order for the same 2ss order in for a 2024 . If we don’t get this one we will be done with GM and we bought 5 new GM products in 3 years. And I am a retired GM employee. I will trade all the GM vehicles on Dodge or Ford’s if they mess up this order. Top management needs a wake-up call. TV news will also be called on this one. The 2024 was ordered June 5 /2023
.
Make sure to give up your pension when you trade in all your GM vehicles too. BTW….No employee or supplier pricing on the 2024’s.
I have 2 2ss at Bosak in Michigan city
same exact thing happened to me. placed the 2023 order in august, was told it could take a year to come, then a year of next to no communication and only after i complain, im told that the order was cancelled months ago, because they couldnt get 2ss tires? sounds BS to me, cant sell an entire car because of a part i can order from anywhere? put in a 2024 order and still hopeful, pestering their sales manager regularly now.
Good thing GM pays attention to the market and not to the online echo chamber. Otherwise they’d now be a unprofitable niche company selling vehicles to a few thousand buyers a year.
Car makers are pricing the average person right out of the new car market. Prices starting at 30k ANC’s ending up at 60k what’ are the engineers thinking ? Vehicles nowadays cost more than my first house. Keep going with your current price structure and we will all be WALKING ! Thank you car manufacturers
Someone’s got to pay for the virtually useless Super Cruise, and other nonsensical GM whizzbangery & pointless adventures.
So, the modern day muscle car era is coming to a close. Very sad. I have always been a Mustang guy, but watching GM close the books on the Camaro is just heartbreaking. These muscle car beasts are bold, beautiful and powerful. I may actually grab one one day soon. Gen Z and Alpha will never know the enjoyment of an American V8 flying down the highway. Too many SUVs and crossovers.
Camaro….rides of into the sunset. 😞
It’s in perfect alignment with Mary’s lower-case “gm” corporate mentality.
Could be worse. Add one more generation or so and those people won’t even know a world where new vehicles had steering wheels and pedals and where you could decide when and where you wanted to go…
Long live the MANUAL transmission.
So they’re going to cheat the enthusiasts out of normal production so the dealers can upcharge to the max. Way to build loyalty, Mary.
OK , so what CHEVY vehicle is going to run in the 2025 NASCAR series? A Trax or Blazer??
If it is up to Mary and Biden, they will mandate NASCAR to run all EVs in 2025. Instead of “Drivers start your engines” I can hear them saying”Drivers, power up your motors” or “Drivers, engage your electric drives.”. Looking back at my life, living through the muscle car era was one of the best times of my life. Long live the Camaro!
“Teams, activate your Race-GPT self-driving AIs.”
Your article was to tell us why the Camaro is to be axed. You didn’t mention that at all. Maybe if gm or any car manufacturers out there for that matter made cars the regular Joe’s could afford maybe they would sell better. I make good money and there’s no way I could afford one of these as a second or third vehicle. Good going guys in killing the affordable fun cars
I’m a Mustang owner but I have always liked Camaros, dating back to the 3rd gens before I was old enough to drive. This is a sad thing for all car enthusiasts.
Great job Mary, you killed a icon that was born in1967. You have blood on your hands
Had a 75 RS Camaro when I was in college in 1976. Sold it and bought a new loaded 1979 Z28 in 1978 when I got my first job. Bought our son a new 2017 Camaro RS in 2018, V6 A8 Garnet Red Tintcoat, when he was 16 & in HS. He is now in college working on his masters. He now has 23k on it. I hope many years from now he opens his carport to show someone the first car he ever got. All three great cars. Another big mistake by little gm killing Camaro again.
Now that gm, is falling for all this climate change krap, the actual consumer can no longer afford a new vehicle. Going all EV’s, is just plain nuts! These ‘New Green Deal” folks, are all making money at the expense of the working class. It’s all a SCAM!!! The country doesn’t want them, and the electric grid will NEVER hold up. We all need to vote all these idiots out of office and out of the Corp. board rooms. It’s all just killing the USA. We need to act now and bring our Country back. Or we will never be the same again!
Xi Jinping and the CCP spearheaded the climate change/EV vehicle narrative. Why you ask? China is arguably the largest supplier of lithium on Earth. Tell people that if they purchase and utilize ICE vehicles, they will destroy our planet within the next 10 years. Buy an EV vehicle instead. Even though they are charged using fossil fuels and when they are spent, someone needs to find a place to dispose of a 2,000lb. battery, this technology is much better for the environment. Oy vey.
Anyway, the Marxists have GM in their back pocket and; therefore, Barra and her squad is only interested in building boring CUV’s and EV’s. The Camaro had to go. It goes against every narrative that is being pushed. Somewhere, Mao Zedong is laughing and giving a high-five to Pol Pot.
GM and Ford are both totally misreading the car market. By killing the Camaro Chevrolet is down to 1 car, the uninspiring Malibu. Ford has no regular cars and will abandon the 2 row midsize SUV market when the Edge ceases production of the in 2024. So, they have handed over the mainstream car market to the Japanese and Koreans. They really are stupid. Plus the average price of a new car has gone up 25% over the last 3 years. Now sits at $48,000. The average new car payment is now around $750 so they are driving the average person right out of the new car market. Both these companies are run by “bean counters” not true car people who just care about one thing the bottom line
The ONLY GM vehicle I would ever consider buying from here on out will be a USED model. This coming from a lifelong Chevy man. I lived through the great 60s and 70s muscle car eras. Thanks a lot Mary for ruining this once great company, and killing a legendary icon, my favorite all time car!
GM, you are making a grave mistake ! Instead of killing a legend, CUT YOUR DAMN PRICES ! no one can afford any new model car or truck ! And by the way bring back the Blazer as a 4×4 off road vehicle quit being stupid pleasing the SUV crowd just sayin
