GM To Replace Incorrect 2023 Cadillac CT5 Shifters

Customers hungry for a track-ready performance machine with four doors and a luxurious cabin can look to the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, which delivers the goods with a supercharged V8 soundtrack to back it. Shoppers can also check out the performance-focused Cadillac CT5-V  and its twin-turbo V6 engine, or the dynamic Cadillac CT5 Sport. Critically, some units of these three CT5 variants were built with the incorrect shifter. Now, however, GM will replace the shifter on affected units.

The replacement shifters are covered under a new Customer Satisfaction Program tagged as N232408660. The new Customer Satisfaction Program was released this month, and only covers the 2023 model year for the CT5. The Customer Satisfaction Program also covers the 2023 model year for the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing.

According to GM, some units of the 2023 Cadillac CT5, CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing may have been equipped with the incorrect shift control knob for the Electronic Precision Shift Controller. Affected units are equipped with a leather-trimmed shifter, rather than the optional sueded microfiber-wrapped shifter, the latter of which is tagged with RPO code 5CS. To note, the sueded microfiber-wrapped shifter is available in conjunction with the sueded microfiber-wrapped steering wheel (RPO code 53S).

These two components cost a combined $300, and are offered as optional for the Cadillac CT5 Sport, the Cadillac CT5-V, and the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. These components are not offered for the Cadillac CT5 Luxury and Cadillac CT5 Premium Luxury.

In order to fix the incorrect shifter issue, GM dealers are instructed to replace the wrong leather shift control knob with the correct sueded shift control knob.

As a reminder, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is equipped as standard with the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, which is rated at a maximum of 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the CT5-V is equipped with the twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 LGY engine that develops 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet, and the CT5 Sport runs the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY with 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet. Under the body panels, the Cadillac CT5 rides on the GM Alpha 2 platform, while production takes place at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan.
