GM To End 2024 Chevy Camaro Production Earlier Than Expected: Exclusive

General Motors has again changed its plans regarding the end date for 2024 Chevy Camaro production, shaving some weeks off its previously-announced production schedule for the muscle car, GM Authority has exclusively learned.
According to insider sources familiar with the matter, the 2024 Chevy Camaro Convertible will end production on November 22nd, 2023, while the last 2024 Camaro Coupe will roll off the assembly line on December 7th, 2023.
In other words, production of the Convertible body style will end before that of the Coupe.
These November and December dates are notably earlier than the January 2024 timeframe The General provided as the discontinuation timeframe when it announced the 2024 Chevy Camaro Collector’s Edition. But even before that, GM Authority exclusively reported that the 2024 Chevy Camaro would get a condensed production run with less total units built than normal production years. In addition to that, GM also ceased offering fleet and government orders, along with discounts for GM employees for the model.
Though these consistent scheduling changes appear to indicate a continuing determination to wrap up production of the sixth-generation sports car as quickly as possible, it’s not clear why the Camaro’s discontinuation date continues to move up.
Production of the 2024 Chevy Camaro will be unusual in several other regards as well. As GM Authority previously reported, the Bow Tie will produce 60 percent more 2024 Camaro units motivated by the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT1 engine, providing fans with greater opportunity to acquire a vehicle powered by an atmospheric V8.
Back when 2024 Camaro production was set to stop in January 2024, our sources indicated that GM will produce 2,000 units of the 2024 Chevy Camaro in the Collector’s Edition configuration across the LT/RS, LT1 and 1SS/2SS trim levels. In addition to this total, 350 units of Camaro ZL1 units will be built as Collector’s Edition machines. Now that production will end earlier than January, it’s likely that these numbers will be negatively impacted.
As a reminder, engine choices for the 2024 Camaro include the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, the aforementioned naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT1 gasoline engine, and the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine. Under the body panels the sixth-gen Camaro rides on the GM Alpha platform.
Production of the 2024 Chevy Camaro is currently under way after starting on August 7th, 2023 at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan. However, the ongoing GM-UAW negotiations might impact that in the days or weeks ahead.
Once production of the sixth-gen Camaro comes to an end, the Camaro nameplate will be put on hiatus, at least until the model gets revived as an EV, something GM has previously confirmed, albeit in a cryptic fashion.

The current management has destroyed the Chevy vehicle lineup. Honda and Toyota have sporty cars that are fun and affordable. Even Kia and Hyundai have some great sporty cars that are affordable. If you want something that isn’t a SUV or has over 163 HP with a Chevy badge on it you now have one choice and it will cost you $70K and has two seats. How can a company make worse decisions about product development than General Motors?
I am sorry to read all the negative crazy ideas that chevy is doing to the bow tie cars I really think it’s time for someone in charge that really likes cars and not makes crazy amounts of money. You are just killing the days of fun cars‼️ Ford has mustangs and Broncos all over and Chrysler has the charger and Challenger!! Ladies and gentlemen WAKE UP.
Chargers and challengers are dodge not chrysler and they ended production too
I say get rid of some of those gas guzzling SUVs, that would help the planet more than getting rid of the Camaro. On the other hand I think as Americans we are spoiled and use to getting what we want, we have more SUVs per capitia than any country on the planet. Chevy makes 3 cars and a bunch of trucks, Buick makes only SUVs , Cadillac makes a few cars and more SUVs, GMC makes exclusively trucks and SUVs
I sure hope my order gets filled by December 7th too.

Wondering if the Camaro body will qualify for the 2024 NASCAR season since end of production is being pushed up to December instead of January 2024.
I pre-ordered mine back in May. All custom from the color to the rims. I kept getting updates and today I was told I would not be getting my car. I am heartbroken. How can you send me a work order showing my car and that it is being built and then tell me HA-HA just kidding you won’t be getting your car but hey we have some 2023’s in stock. I didn’t order a 2023, I ordered a custom 2024. So, no I will not be buying a 2023. In fact, I won’t purchase another car from you ever. SHAME ON YOU CHEVY!
Jeannette,
I am sorry to hear. That seems to be the norm. GM promotes the Camaro and Corvette Z06 but cannot deliver as promised. I have waited over 2.5 years for a Z06 and the dealer still could not tell me when I can order it let alone get it. I canceled and had my deposit returned. I don’t know if GM monitors this site, but the amount of disgruntled customers who are walking away from purchasing GM vehicles in the future is off the charts. Hopefully, the next brand you pick will be more accommodating and appreciate your business.
Thank you. It is disgusting to do this to people. I will NEVER purchase another GM product. EVER. Sorry about your car too, thankful you got you deposit back 🙂
I get it, Jeannette, but you had to know that getting one was going to be sheer luck. GM wasn’t even taking orders back in May and only started in August. Just because your dealer got an allotment didn’t mean that you were going to get your car and just because GM accepted your order didn’t mean you were going to get it either. Considering the strike and rolling back end of production were both working against you. I hate the way GM has handled this too, but you still have options. I put in an order in Aug and my dealer got an allotment and offered it to me in late Sept. Considering all of the above, I had already begun the purchase of a guaranteed ’23. Taking up the offer would have been chancy at best, so I passed on it. If you really want a new Camaro, don’t cut off your nose to spite your face. You aren’t hurting GM, but you are hurting yourself. Think about it. It would’ve been nice to have a ’24, but I’m loving my ’23 and not looking back.
Really? I have a text message from the Chevy dealer with my order back in May. I can prove it. So if that is the case and she lied to me, then I have an even bigger problem. Now I know GM is shady as ever. If you would like I can upload the picture form May where she said my order was in place and I was second in line
Chevrolet screwed this up just like they did the Corvette. I am irritated as well. The dealer I was dealing with was great. They can’t help it. Orders for the Camaro could not be completely entered until it opened in June. I wrote a letter to GM and told them how the mishandled this and praised my dealer that I was dealing with. I have bought a 2024 Mustang GT.
Nice! I hope you are enjoying your mustang. 🙂 I would praise my dealer too, but they lied to me the entire time.
Oh, and by the way, if I wanted a 2023, I would have bought a 2023!!!! Don’t need to think about it. My business with GM is DONE. Have a nice day
Placing an order is not an allocation. Your dealer did not get an allocation. Building a car is not an order learn it get it let it sink in
Ok I get it but the text messages and emails from the dealer said otherwise. So, they lied to me. Even more reason to not do business with this company.
Does anyone remember when 1969 Camaro where in production they sold so many they were making 1969 camaros into the year of 1970 and 1970 camaros where called 1970 1/2 … it was just a great car and STILL IS …..GM WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU GUYS????? Please forget about a ELECTRICAL CAMARO‼️Every Mustang guy will be laughing when they see IT.
It’s really too bad the messages we put out there. No one at GM reads them. It’s a very very sad sad day for CAMAROS … back in 1969 they could not make enough camaros went into the 1970 year
