Daniel Hemric To Drive No. 31 NASCAR Chevy In 2024 Cup Series

Daniel Hemric will make his return to the Cup Series behind the wheel of the No. 31 NASCAR Chevy Camaro ZL1 for the 2024 season, thanks to a new contract with Kaulig Racing.

Currently, Hemric competes in the Xfinity Series in a NASCAR Chevy entry also fielded by Kaulig. Previously, he competed full-time in the Cup Series in 2019, when he drove for Richard Childress Racing, wherein he earned the title of Rookie of the Year.

“This is a big day, and it means so much to my family and me,” Hemric said in a press release. “It’s truly special to have an opportunity to do something big with a group of people that want it just as bad as you. It takes heart, and each and every person at Kaulig Racing has it. I’m looking forward to finishing out this season strong and getting right back to work in the offseason with everyone at Kaulig Racing.”

Hemric has earned a spot in the last two Xfinity Series Playoffs, and has thus far made 47 starts in the Cup Series. In those starts, he’s earned one pole position, one top-five finish, and three top-10 finishes as well as leading 22 total laps. Nine of his Cup Series attempts were behind the wheel of a Kaulig Racing machine.

“I appreciate these guys,” Hemric said, referencing team owner Matt Kaulig and Kaulig Racing president Chris Rice. “You know, they went to bat for me whenever I didn’t know what I had next in 2021. I said then whenever I got to sit down and actually hear them out, hear what their vision was not only for 2024, 2025 and beyond – back well before that was on the horizon – I knew after hearing what they had to say I wanted to be a part of it.”

Hemric will replace Justin Haley, current driver of the No. 31 NASCAR Chevy Camaro, who will move to Rick Ware Racing next year to drive a Ford Mustang in the Cup Series.

Where will he go when the Camaro is gone and Chevrolet doesn’t have a car for NASTYCAR? HONDA. THAT SPORT IS DEAD.
