Chevy Tahoe Driver Leads High-Speed Police Chase In Florida: Video

When you really get down to think about it, a modern full-size SUV traveling at triple-digit speeds is absolutely nuts. All that mass punching a giant brick-shaped hole in the air is a testament to modern engineering – and unbelievably dangerous as well. Now, we’re watching exactly that in the following police chase video featuring a Chevy Tahoe running from cops across three counties in Florida.

According to the video description, which appears to be a direct copy of the related police report, this Chevy Tahoe police chase occurred on July 30th, 2023 around the Tampa Bay Area. The report states that the driver of a green Chevy Tahoe fled from the Tampa Police Department and was seen traveling northbound on Interstate 75. The video picks up with the chase already under way, with the camera fixed on a police trooper in pursuit of the Chevy Tahoe on a two-lane road.

Just a few seconds into the video, we see the Chevy Tahoe fly towards an intersection, where police are seen waiting. Law enforcement attempt to deploy a spike strip, but the driver maneuvers the SUV onto the sidewalk to avoid it.

The chase continues at high speeds, with the police officer in pursuit gaining on the Chevy Tahoe, then losing ground. The report indicates that police were following the SUV with a Tampa Police Department air unit, which was relaying the Tahoe’s position to the Tampa Bay Regional Communications Center (TBRCC). The report indicates that the Chevy Tahoe “traveled at speeds of over 130 mph,” as well as drove on the wrong side of the roadway and forced other vehicles onto the shoulder. It should be noted that Chevrolet estimates the fifth-generation Tahoe has a top speed of 120 mph to 124 mph, depending on the configuration.

Around the 18-minute mark, we see the pursuing officer ram the Chevy Tahoe, resulting in the bumper on the squad car to hang.

Inevitably, after more than 30 minutes, the chase ends with the SUV boxed in by police. Check out the full chase video here:
