Chevy Camaro Driver Tries To Peel Rubber, Rips Whole Wheel Off: Video

Upgrading your vehicle is very rarely simple or easy, at least when it is done properly. The process usually involves a lot of work under the skin and out of sight, which could lead some to cut a few corners. After all, who’s going to notice if the drivetrain isn’t up to snuff when the wheels and paint are on point? Well, as it turns out, everyone will notice if your wheel suddenly detaches during a burnout, as seen with the Chevy Camaro in the following viral video.

Chevy Camaro in a new viral video.

Previously making the rounds on social media, the video is short, but brutal, showing a Chevy Camaro restomod in a somewhat spectacular mechanical failure out on public roads. The video opens on a busy surface street near Miami, Florida, with plenty of sunshine, blue skies, and palm trees in the background. We see a nice-looking Chevy Camaro with orange paint and two white racing stripes start to peel out from a stop light. It sounds like there are some folks in the background taking video, which could mean this Chevy Camaro is leaving a local car show.

The two-door is riding on some massive wheels wrapped in thin low-profile tires. It’s uncertain what’s under the hood, but this thing is likely making a bit of power to match the eye-grabbing looks.

As the Chevy Camaro starts to burn rubber, we hear a loud clunk noise, and the driver’s side rear wheel comes loose. The rear end of the Chevy Camaro lifts up as the rear bumper rides over the ultra-wide wheel, the rear brake caliper hanging down underneath the car.

Those watching react with some painful “oohs” as the wheel starts to slowly roll into the intersection. An onlooker runs out in the street to grab it before it can cause any more damage.

The moral of the story is clear – upgrade your drivetrain to match the rest of the restomod.

  1. For real though, reckon they were just old-ass, weak lug studs or do you think he had some cheap spacers in there?

    1. Likely no spacers because of the monster offset built into those wheels. And it appears part of the hub is still attached to the wheel so that would preclude lug failure. That and the brake caliper hanging down means the hub separated from the car with the wheel.

I’ll go with a hub failure caused by the big time wheel offset.

    2. Referring to the “cheap spacers”…that would be between his brain cells. Stupid is what stupid does. This is the epitome of the term “driving privilege”… driving is NOT a right.
This is why. What if everyone behaved this way? Hmmmm, many do…..so, let’s not
      glorify this behavior, PLEASE.

    3. owner must of failed physics class. He needs to study his “force” formulas’.

  2. Bad job on the narrowed rear axle or the hub failed due to the huge offset on those wheels.

  3. Oversized offset wheels really put a lot of stress on the lug studs. The guys who go with the skateboard look on their 4×4’s by ridiculously offsetting the wheels should understand the huge stresses that puts on the lugs, hubs, bearings, and suspension pieces. They are looking at early failures, potentially at inopportune times like driving down the highway. Good luck.

  4. Brings new meaning to “one wheel peel” 😂.

  5. Probably a bad job on the caliper conversion and did not upgrade the axles.

  6. Haha. Well, at least they got the attention they wanted even if not for the reason they wanted it.

  7. Same thing happened to a buddy of mine with his 1969 GTO when I was behind him in my Camaro. The tire bounced across the road and hit a Chevy dealers window. Luckily, it didn’t break it.
