The GM Authority Take

Chevrolet Argentina sales experienced a healthy increase in August, posting its second straight monthly increase in the South American country. In fact, the Bow Tie brand’s 38 percent increase was the second highest among major auto brands during August in the Argentine market, which cumulatively saw a more modest growth of 2.1 percent.

Chevrolet Argentina’s gains during August were supported by noteworthy double, and triple-digit increases in several models, particularly highlighted by strong growth in the Chevy Tracker. The small crossover regained its position as Chevrolet’s best-selling model during the month, enabling it to outsell the Chevy Cruze, which suffered a sizeable drop of nearly 20 percent. As such, the Tracker strengthens its performance in the year-to-date timeframe while solidifying its position as the best-selling crossover in Argentina.

In addition, August was the first month that the all-new Chevy Montana was on sale in Argentina. The compact pickup went on sale in mid-July in the Argentine market, and August saw only 64 deliveries. This rather insignificant volume was the result of import limitations imposed by the local government, coupled with the fact that the Montana is only offered in one trim in Argentina, at least for the time being.
