Exactly one year after the official debut of the all-new 2024 Chevy Equinox EV in the United States, images of Chevrolet‘s all-electric compact crossover have been fully leaked in China.
Chinese authorities have released the SAIC-GM joint venture’s official future product statement for the all-new 2024 Chevy Equinox EV, leaking the first images and key data of the upcoming model destined for the Chinese market. In fact, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology once again went ahead of the automaker and confirmed the arrival of the 2024 Equinox EV in the Asian country before it was officially announced.
The first leaked images of the all-new 2024 Chevy Equinox EV reveal that the Chinese-built variant of the zero-emissions crossover will boast the exact same design of the North American model that will be built at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico. Notably, the leak shows the 2024 Equinox EV in the sporty RS trim level and is basically the same as the U.S. version – with just a few minor trim differences.
Cosmetically, the all-new 2024 Chevy Equinox EV RS for China features a monochrome body with a darkened finish on the faux-grille, window frames, wheel arches, and entire lower body. Distinctions from the North American model include the absence of the contrasting black roof, at least in these pictures, a new six-spoke 20-inch wheel design, slightly larger wing mirrors, and clear-finish taillamps.
For its part, the RS variant of the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV for China will be powered by two electric motors – one on each axle – creating an electronic all-wheel drivetrain and developing a combined 283 horsepower. At the moment, there are no details on its Ultium Battery pack configuration and driving range for the country, but it is expected that other powertrain options will be offered as well.
The all-new 2024 Chevy Equinox will officially debut in China in the coming months and has the potential to become Chevy’s first all-electric vehicle based on the Ultium architecture to launch in the Asian country. In any case, the Equinox EV will be manufactured locally to supply the Chinese market.

Interresting, have we in america already had Equinox build yet? on the road?
I guess this variant will be made in China for chinese market and, possibly Canada?
They have already started test builds in Mexico of the Equinox EV. Looking pretty good to be on sale soon,
Let’s hope GM doesn’t drop the price ball on this one…
Shipping to Canada from China could be interesting. That could make more Equinox EVs available to the US that would qualify for the US tax credits. Tesla is using this approach with the Model 3.
But it would mean demand is not high enough in China (worlds largest auto market) based on how many they can build locally. Although, if they can sell at a higher markup in Canada than China, might still make sense.
Canada isn’t buying many EVs anyway. The incentives are too low and the colder climate combined with the distance between cities make road trips arduous. Hybrids would make more sense, but most auto companies decided there isn’t enough profit to be had with those, which is a shame, really.
Wrong.
BC and Quebec are buying lots.
It’s only Ontario doesn’t because R.Ford doesn’t support it.
Get your fact right.
Ontario is catching up as well. I have seen a lot of new EVs lately. Especially now that we have non-Tesla options available.
Charging infrastructure needs to triple. Range issues scare a lot of people. Condo charging is also a hot discussion
@rEVolutionary
Tesla has an insanely high demand in China but they still ship vehicles to Canada from China ever since the IRA started.
Makes perfect sense for GM to do the same thing with the BEV Nox.
This will only matter if GM keeps to their promise of the 30K BEV Nox because in no more than two years time Tesla will have their 25/30K vehicle out coming from the Austin Plant.
Call me skeptical about Tesla having another product out in 2 years, especially when they have yet to reveal it.
However, I would expect GM to have the refreshed Ultium based Bolt EV out in less than 2 years. Which should be around $25k or less.
The design looks very similar to the Cadillac GT4
I hope we get the clear tails as an available option in North America. If not, I may have to swap them out later – I am sure that someone will start selling them online.
In my opinion, that’s a damn good-looking car !!!!
@Frank Ricciardi
If priced at 30K to 45K fully loaded then this should sell extremely well.
I’m buying one
