The 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban will introduce only a few small updates and changes compared to the preceding 2023 model year, rather than a mid-cycle refresh as originally expected. Among these changes will be a slightly revised paint options list. Now, GM Authority has the details on paint option changes for the 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban.
According to GM Authority sources, the 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban won’t be available in Auburn Metallic paint. Tagged with paint code G48, Auburn Metallic will be dropped from the paint options list following the conclusion of the 2023 model year. Notably, this paint option is already off the order books for 2023 model-year vehicles, and has now been built out, as GM Authority covered previously. Auburn Metallic was introduced on the Tahoe and on the Suburban for the 2022 model year.
Deletion of Auburn Metallic is the only paint color change expected for the 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban. No new paint options will be offered.
The 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban will originally expected to introduce a mid-cycle enhancement (otherwise known as a refresh) for both full-size SUV nameplates. However, new information later came to light indicating that the refresh would in fact debut for the 2025 model year, or possibly even later.
With the refreshed Tahoe and Suburban debuting for the 2025 model year or later, the 2024 Chevy Tahoe and 2024 Chevy Suburban will once again offer the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rather than the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine originally believed to be offered as a replacement for the LM2 in conjunction with the refresh. The 3.0L I6 LM2 is rated at 277 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm, while the 3.0L I6 LZ0 is rated at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.
As a reminder, the Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban both ride on the GM T1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.
