Initially breaking cover for the 2024 model year, the production-ready Cadillac Celestiq is the luxury marque’s latest ultra-luxury halo car, offering a wide range of technology and customization options for a select number of customers. Interestingly, the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq also features a curious V Mode button on the steering wheel, the purpose of which GM has yet to explain. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at this button to see what it might do.
Looking at the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq driver’s seat, we find the V Mode button on the left spoke of the steering wheel, directly adjacent to the horn pad. Naturally, the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq isn’t the first Caddy to include a V Mode button – in fact, we’ve already seen a similar button on models like the CT4-V and CT5-V. However, the Cadillac Celestiq is obviously not a V-Series model (i.e., not performance-oriented), so what gives?
We reached out to Cadillac for an explanation, and received the following statement in response:
“The Celestiq ride and handling experience will elevate the already-exceptional Cadillac reputation for isolated precision,” Cadillac told GM Authority. “A suite of advanced automotive technologies will offer clients the luxurious, isolated ride experience they demand from an ultra-luxury vehicle, while packaging an incredible amount of sophisticated content in a large, spacious vehicle. Cadillac will share more details about performance and drive modes when vehicles begin to arrive to clients in late-spring 2024.”
So, although Cadillac is still playing coy with regard to the exact purpose of the V Mode button on the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq.
However, the Celestiq could feature a Velocity drive mode, which is now being offered for 2024 Cadillac Lyriq AWD owners as a one-time purchase that boosts the Ultium Drive powertrain’s performance. The upcoming Cadillac Escalade IQ will also be available with a driver-selectable Velocity Max drive mode that bumps output from 680 to 750 horsepower.
We’ll keep an eye on this and report any new information we may uncover, so stay tuned. In the meantime, subscribe to GM Authority for more Cadillac Celestiq news, Cadillac news, GM electric vehicle news, GM technology news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.
