The 2023 Chevy Colorado adds five new exterior colors to its palette: Glacier Blue Metallic, Harvest Bronze Metallic, Sterling Gray Metallic, Radiant Red Tintcoat, and Nitro Yellow Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Yellow hue.
Assigned RPO code GCP and touch-up paint code WA-628G, Nitro Yellow Metallic is one of eight exterior colors offered on the next-generation midsize pickup truck, which include:
- Summit White
- Black
- Sand Dune Metallic
- Glacier Blue Metallic (new for 2023)
- Nitro Yellow Metallic (new for 2023)
- Radiant Red Tintcoat (new for 2023)
- Sterling Gray Metallic (new for 2023)
- Harvest Bronze Metallic (new for 2023)
The Nitro Yellow Metallic color is an extra-cost option priced at $395. It is only available on the Trail Boss trim level and above, and can be combined with all available interior colorways.
For reference, here are the three available interior colorways offered on the 2023 Colorado:
- Jet Black (WT, LT, Trail Boss)
- Jet Black/Adrenaline Red (Z71)
- Jet Black/Artemis (ZR2)
The all-new, third-generation 2023 Chevy Colorado arrives featuring a new exterior, a new powertrain, plenty of on-board technology, and a completely revised interior. The new model rides on an updated platform, resulting in a more refined truck that is also more capable off-road. The 2023 Colorado is available in five trim levels – WT, LT, Z71, Trail Boss, and ZR2. The ZR2 also offers a special edition in the form of the ZR2 Desert Boss.
Under the hood resides one of two powertrains – the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine as well as the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B engine in Turbo Plus and Turbo High Output configurations. The new powerplants are mated to a new-generation eight-speed automatic transmission, which is vastly improved compared to the preceding GM eight-speed automatic, though a few issues still remain.
The 2023 Colorado also gets a new StowFlex Tailgate and new wheel designs up to 22 inches, plus a vast range of available accessories, with Chevy set to offer over 200 individual parts and components from the Chevrolet Accessories catalog.
Production of the 2023 Chevy Colorado started on January 25th at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri, while the new ZR2 trim started rolling off the line in mid-May. The online configurator tool is live for the 2023 Colorado.
The Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison returns as the all-new 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison and will replace the Desert Boss package. For 2024, the Bison will be offered as a standalone trim level rather than as a package.

Weird colors, but I do like the blue. I bought a new S-10 Sport short bed in 82 that was mustard yellow with satin black low on the sides. Now that was a looker!
Hardly a first look. I have see one, almost daily for the last two months, on my commute to work.
Just wait until the article “2023 GMC Canyon Gets New Nitro Yellow Metallic Color: First Look” comes out. 😂
I’m confused as to why these pre 23 color articles are coming out now, while they are taking 24 orders??
Hey GM ! How about you start back building the Colorado like we had in the 2012 … it was affordable, looked great, and was a stable an reliable vehicle. Today’s Colorado will not be what 80% of the market wants. I really like the ’24 Chevy S10 reg cab pickup sold in Mexico … get us that one up here to buy. I’d take one w/auto, air, cruise, crank windows, cloth seats, am/fm radio, what I need … also something easy to get in and out of.
I’ll take one in Rally Yellow, not the washed out looking metallic yellow. I have a yellow 2015 Colorado and it looks really nice with black fender flares and black off-road tubular steps.
