The NASCAR Chevy teams have plenty of representation in the postseason Playoffs field of 16 championship-eligible drivers, but some big names were eliminated after the Cup Series race at Daytona on August 26th, 2023.
Perhaps the biggest name to miss out on the 2023 Playoffs is Chase Elliott, driver of the No. 9 Chevy Camaro ZL1. While Elliott finished fourth at the line, it wasn’t enough to overcome missing seven races this year – six of which were due to a leg injury, and one due to suspension.
“Yeah, I really liked where we were before the caution [on Lap 156],” Elliott said. “Honestly, after the restart there, we had the bottom lane that we wanted. I knew the 6 [Keselowski] was going to go with the 17 [Buescher] I thought the 4 [Harvick] was going to take the bottom, and they did. We really had all the help we could ask for behind.”
Elliott, the 2020 Cup Series champion, went on, “I couldn’t stay locked onto Kevin like I needed to to surge the bottom lane forward. Brad [Keselowski] and [race winner] Chris [Buescher] were there. Just had a good enough hold on that top lane, and they could kind of control each of them. Yeah, it’s a bummer, for sure. Hate the season has worked out like it has. The good news is the car got in in the owners’ points. That’s a big deal.”
Alex Bowman, whose No. 48 NASCAR Chevy Camaro finished sixth, also missed out on the Playoffs after missing four races due to a back injury.
With that in mind, there are still quite a few NASCAR Chevy teams up for a championship, which includes the following 16 drivers:
- William Byron, No. 24 Chevy Camaro ZL1
- Martin Truex Jr., No. 19 Toyota TRD Camry
- Denny Hamlin, No. 11 Toyota TRD Camry
- Chris Buescher, No. 17 Ford Mustang
- Kyle Busch, No. 8 Chevy Camaro ZL1
- Kyle Larson, No. 5 Chevy Camaro ZL1
- Christopher Bell, No. 20 Toyota TRD Camry
- Ross Chastain, No. 1 Chevy Camaro ZL1
- Brad Keselowski, No. 6 Ford Mustang
- Tyler Reddick, No. 45 Toyota TRD Camry
- Joey Logano, No. 22 Ford Mustang
- Ryan Blaney, No. 12 Ford Mustang
- Michael McDowell, No. 34 Ford Mustang
- Ricky Stenhouse Jr., No. 47 Chevy Camaro ZL1
- Kevin Harvick, No. 4 Ford Mustang
- Bubba Wallace, No. 23 Toyota TRD Camry
Chris Buescher, driver of the No. 17 Ford Mustang, won the race at Daytona in Overtime, while Martin Truex Jr., driver of the No. 19 Toyota TRD Camry, won the regular season championship.

Once again the new generation car proved it is a piece of crap. Very boring race till the last lap. Glad Ryan Preece survived his crash just bruised up. Like watching Roller Derby! They should make no pushing allowed! Who drives like that anyway?
Yes terribly boring … three-wide racing through the entire pack, countless lead changes, drama about who would make the championship … far worse than follow-the-leader racing without lead changes and passing /s
