After announcing the facelift of the successful compact crossover for the first time earlier this year, General Motors has just officially launched the refreshed 2024 Chevy Captiva in Mexico.
The automaker’s Mexican subsidiary launched the refreshed 2024 Chevy Captiva, the country representing the largest volume market worldwide for the nameplate, and where it has positioned itself as one of the best-selling utility vehicles. The Captiva’s 2024 model year introduces the first update to the crossover that offers up to three rows of seats in Mexico, adding new elements of design, safety and comfort.
“We are sure that Chevrolet Captiva will continue to position itself as one of the preferred SUVs in the segment,” said Chevrolet Marketing Manager at GM Mexico, Wilberto del Ángel. “The new 2024 Captiva reinforces the model’s competitiveness by offering an excellent value proposition for its space, design, efficiency and safety,” he added.
As GM Authority has already reported, the exterior design of the refreshed 2024 Chevy Captiva is based on the Wuling Almaz RS, a variant of the crossover made by SAIC-GM-Wuling for Indonesia. New for the 2024 Captiva include an updated fascia with revised grille, headlamp and bumper finishes, as well as a refreshed liftgate, new taillamps and a redesigned rear bumper. It also gets a new 18-inch wheel design.
Like the previous model year, the refreshed 2024 Chevy Captiva arrives in five- and seven-seat configurations, with LT and Premier trim levels that come standard with a comprehensive list of technology and safety equipment. Mechanically, both trim levels boast the same turbocharged 1.5L I4 engine that develops 144 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, mated exclusively to a continously variable automatic transmission.
The refreshed 2024 Chevy Captiva is now available for sale at Chevrolet’s extensive network of official dealerships in Mexico, where the model is positioned below the all-new 2024 Chevy Trax and enjoys a remarkable level of success as the most economical compact three-row crossover on the market. It now features six standard airbags in all versions, perforated leather upholstery and automatic climate control in the Premier.
Pricing for the 2024 Chevy Captiva in Mexico is as follows:
- 2024 Captiva LT five-seat: 486,400 pesos (about $28,750 USD at the current exchange rate)
- 2024 Captiva LT seven-seat: 508,900 pesos ($30,080 USD)
- 2024 Captiva Premier seven-seat: 549,400 pesos ($32,480 USD)

Cute. I can imagine the outcry in the US if the 7-seater were offered here, as it’s gotta be more cramped than the Mitsubishi Outlander, which is a lot larger and that gets laughed at. Ridiculous, actually.
Yep, they do sell very well, however, customer satisfaction is not satisfactory. Would you trust a CVT made in China?. Other Chinesse-made cars sold in Mexico are the Cavalier, Onix, Aveo, S10, and Groove.
The Chevy Captiva was originally made in South Korea. I have seen many where I drive. This model looks very good. More Chevy SUVs will kill foreign brands.
Captiva was made in Korea in the past. But the important thing is that it is no longer made in Korea but in China. Chinese Chevy is hard to trust.
I quit reading when I got to CVT transmission.
