Noah Gragson Requests To Be Released From NASCAR Chevy Team

Noah Gragson, driver of the No. 42 NASCAR Chevy Camaro ZL1, issued a statement on August 10th, 2023, requesting to be released from Legacy Motor Club (LMC) in the wake of his suspension from the sport.
As a reminder, Gragson was suspended both by NASCAR and LMC on August 4th, 2023. Gragson had liked a post on social media appearing to make fun of the murder of George Floyd.
“I have asked Legacy Motor Club to release me from my contract so that I can take time to work through the NASCAR reinstatement process,” Gragson said in the statement. “I love racing, and I am looking forward to a second chance to compete for wins at the highest level of NASCAR – and most importantly, make my family, my team and the fans proud of me once again.”
Gragson has been suspended indefinitely, with no indication of if, or when, he will be reinstated for competition. Josh Berry drove the No. 42 NASCAR Chevy in his stead at Michigan on August 6th, although he wrecked and was unable to complete the event. Meanwhile, Le Mans champion Mike Rockenfeller has been tapped to sub at the Indy Road Course on August 13th and at Watkins Glen on August 20th.
Gragson previously signed with LMC for a multiyear contract, although specifics were not disclosed. The 2023 Cup Series season marked Gragson’s first in the division after moving up from a successful Xfinity Series career, although if LMC releases him from his contract early, he will not be able to complete his rookie year.
“Noah has a ton of talent and has a great personality,” said Cal Wells III, CEO of LMC, in a response to Gragson’s request. “This is a difficult situation, but we are proud that Noah has taken ownership of his actions and are confident he will work through this process with NASCAR and come back stronger.”
LMC has been reaching out to other drivers to pilot the No. 42 NASCAR Chevy in Gragson’s stead. At the time of this writing, there are no updates beyond Rockenfeller’s stint.

Noah is great driver. Drove for JR Motor sports last year. Won a ton of races. He should not have signed with the “Goody Two Shoes”, Legacy Motors. They had sub par cars. I can see him being picked up by a # one team next year. JR still might move up to CUP next year, if his sister gives the OK. Noah will be the # one driver if that happens. Or maybe, Track House will make a third team. That would a great move for them. That would give them 3 agressive drivers. That team is coming on strong. They are not afraid to do new things. And lastly, NASCAR has become so WOKE, they are loosing fans left and right. Just turn into a race. The stands are now, never full. All the cars are exactly the same under the body. Racin’ used be fun. Now, it’s the team who can keep the car in one piece till the end. It’s just how much money they have to spend. Nascar has lost it’s shine. There is too many stupid WOKE decisions and rules. It all started with the B.S. Bubba’s phoney noose thing. Now it’s gone crazy. Bring back “Rubin’is Racin’! I agree with Harlie. Nascar has gone off the edge. There is just to much politics now. They have become too woke. The races are now so boring, you can walk away during a race, come back an hour later, and all that has happend that was exciting, was a few cars who blew a tire, and hit the wall. That’s not racin’. It’s bumper cars. I too, would LOVE to see Racin’ again. Too many rules and B.S. now. Noah was screwed, because of it. He is too good a driver to not land at a better team. Maybe JR will move up to Cup. Then watch Noah shine again.
Well, he didn’t sign with LMC. When he signed the contract, the organization was still Petty GMS, without Jimmie Johnson on board.
